BLURB:
In
her debut novel, Lisa Dianne McInnes urges us to explore the meaning of loss,
the evil side of human nature, and the infinite power of love and rising above
it all.
Between the years 2012
and 2017, like a pile of dominos, Lisa Dianne McInnes watched her life collapse
as one traumatic tragedy after another took away her loved ones, leaving her to
learn just how quickly life can fall apart.
An extraordinary memoir full of depth, compassion, and unimaginable strength, The Majewski Curse is the harrowing true story of the separate yet intertwined tragedies of Brandon, Devon, and Derek Majewski's deaths and the multiple conspiracies surrounding their family's search for truth.

EXCERPT:
You know that feeling you get when you can’t make sense of anything, and you feel as though you might be in an episode of The Twilight Zone? That’s how I felt on October 28th, 2012—the night my life changed forever. It was the beginning of a tsunami of loss that I nor anyone else could ever have predicted.
The chilling cacophony of fists pounding on the door and dogs barking wildly in the middle of the night still haunts me to this day. Not to mention the heart-stopping fear that gripped my heart as my feet hit the floor, and I ran around the house madly, acting solely on instinct, turning on the lights and chasing the horrific sounds, with my mind fleeing nervously from one thought to the next.
When my husband, Derek, and I eventually made it to the main entrance of our home—in what seemed like an eternity amid our disoriented sleep—we realized the hollow pounding was coming from the garage. Evidently, the ringing of the front doorbell had not roused us, so the relentless reverberating sound continued until we finally opened the garage door and were confronted with every parent’s worst nightmare. Red and blue sirens flashed violently before our eyes and blinded us. We stood in shock in front of several police officers as fear took over our bodies.
Nothing could have prepared us for what came next.
“There has been an accident, and we need you to come to the hospital immediately,” one of the police officers said. We continued to stand in silence, barely registering his words. “Your son, Brandon, is on life support; you need to hurry.” An unforgettable chill ran down my spine.
I immediately raced down the hallway to find clothes, but as I looked back, I could see Derek standing motionless in the hallway. “Hurry up and get dressed!” I yelled like a maniac. However, he didn’t budge. I couldn’t understand what he was doing, so I screamed once again, “Move, we have to go!”
He then calmly turned toward me, and with tears falling down his face, said, “It doesn’t matter, Lisa; he’s already dead.”
His words infuriated me beyond comprehension, but all I could do was wail, “He is not! Now, hurry up!”
Little did I know that what we would soon discover would forever alter our lives and destroy our family in unimaginable ways.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Lisa Dianne McInnes has always been fascinated with spirituality and the human experience. She prides herself on always being committed to the truth, even when it hurts, and believes in being reliable, trustworthy, honest, and loyal to those she loves.
However, in 2012, when tragedy struck and shattered her family, Lisa's beliefs were tested and she was forced to undergo a profound inner transformation. In doing so, she had to acknowledge the trauma of her past but chose only to remember the love her family shared. Her solid understanding and belief in the theory of mindfulness and living in the moment helped her rise from the ashes and move on with her life. She believes the past can be like a black hole: if you stand too close it will pull you in.
Today, small things like sunsets, staring out at the water, and kisses for no reason are the reasons she smiles. She believes it is the simple memories that define us, and the ones we hold close to our hearts. For Lisa, writing allows her to share her struggles and experiences with others, and by doing so she learns and grows both mentally and spiritually through the process. Therefore, with her work, she hopes to inspire her readers to join her on the journey to find inner peace and greater fulfillment in their lives.
Lisa completed her debut novel, The Majewski Curse, and is currently preparing to start writing her second non-fiction work. She currently resides in Northern Ontario with her spouse and their puppy Cooper.
