My Review:
Fern begins Kat Flannery’s The Montgomery Sisters series. It tells the story of Fern Montgomery, a recluse who finds herself as a suspect in murdering Sarah Fuller. Sheriff Gabe Bennett is determined to find out who the killer is and zeroes in on his number one suspect. The more he talks to Fern, the more he realizes he has begun to have feelings for her. Will he be forced to arrest the one he is falling in love with or will he be able to find another suspect of Sarah’s murder? Will Fern be able to prove her innocence before it is too late?
I enjoyed Fern’s story and getting to know her and her sisters. There is no mistaking the love between the sisters. I admired Fern’s bravery and courage. It was fun when she interacted with Gabe as he was trying to investigate what had happened to Sarah. Even though this is a quick and short read, it is full of twists and turns, mystery and suspense, and action and adventure. Throwing in historical romance and this is all a perfect story for me.
Fern gets a well deserved five plus stars from me. I would have given it one hundred stars if I could have. I highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy historical romance. I can not wait to read the second installment from The Montgomery Sisters series. I am looking forward to see what will happen with Poppy Montgomery and catching up with Fern.
