This book should be on every middle young adult’s reading list. — Terrie Hellard-Brown, award-winning author and podcaster

Book Description:

When Titus refuses to deny his Christian faith, Roman persecution destroys his family and condemns him to a brutal life in the copper mines of northern Italy.

Underground, surrounded by despair and danger, he must choose between hatred and hope, revenge and redemption.

From a mine collapse to an emperor’s audience hall, Titus’s journey spans the Roman Empire during Constantine’s transformative reign. Alongside Tribune Felix, he discovers that true freedom comes through forgiveness, not force. Authentic historical details bring ancient Rome to life while timeless themes of faith, friendship, and courage inspire modern readers.

This gripping adventure combines accurate historical research with compelling storytelling. Readers will witness early Christian persecution, experience Roman culture, and walk through Constantine’s palace while following Titus’s transformation from broken slave to Roman citizen.

An unforgettable tale where archaeological accuracy meets heart-pounding adventure, proving that faith can triumph over the darkest circumstances and that God’s love never abandons His people.

TITUS AND THE EMPERORS COIN Series Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

I have read and enjoyed previous books from talented author, Dennis Conrad. I was excited to get my hands on his newest release where he teamed up with a new to me author, Derinda Babcock, Titus and the Christian Coin: An Adventure of Faith and Freedom. I was far from being disappointed. I loved going back in time to when the Roman Empire was in power and Christianity was in its infancy. It was quite the journey to take and seeing how it was like living back in those times. I admired Titus and his bravery, courage and determination. I thought his story was beautiful and inspiring to read. He is a great role model to follow. He was realistic and the historical details made me feel as though I was right there along with him. Even though I am not the targeted audience for this book, I thought it was a great read and had no problem reading it full in no time.

I am going to give Titus and the Christian Coin: An Adventure of Faith and Freedom a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for teen readers who are looking for a fabulous and clean historical fiction. I would love to read more books from Dennis Conrad, as well as, Derinda Babcock.

I received a paperback copy of Conrad and Babcock's Titus and the Christian Coin: An Adventure of Faith and Freedom from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

My Review

Marcus and the Emperor’s Coin is the second installment from the children's series, In God We Trust by Dennis Conrad. I thought this was a great story that teaches children a valuable lesson, while using an element of faith, as well as, history. Even though I am not the targeted audience for it, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. It was entertaining to follow Marcus on his journey and seeing what he would encounter along the way. Particularly, someone very important and what he learns about God. I liked the pages to follow with more historical context and some fun facts.

The audio version of Marcus and the Emperor’s Coin is narrated by James Lee Rubart. His performance was perfect to bring this story to life. It was enjoyable to listen to.

I am giving Marcus and the Emperor’s Coin a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who are between the ages of five and ten and love to read historical fiction. How to Turn a Penny into a Teachable Moment

Dennis Conrad

Connect with your child or grandchild by starting a coin collection.

Start with the penny, also known as the Lincoln Head Cent. The coins were first minted in 1909 because it was the 100th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s birth.

Use the coin to help your child make the connections with who Lincoln was, what he did, and when he lived. Reasons why Abraham Lincoln is featured on a coin include the following:

  1. Lincoln is often at the top of the list of America’s greatest presidents.
  2. He helped to preserve the Union during the American Civil War.
  3. His Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves.
  4. The Gettysburg Address ranks as one of the best speeches of all time.

Now, Look On the Back (the Reverse)

Go through change to find the different images on the backs of pennies.

There are wheat ears (1909-1958) and the Lincoln Memorial (1959-2008).

To celebrate the 200th anniversary of his birth, the U.S. Mint issued coins with four different images on the back. The Lincoln Bicentennial (2009) coins include a log cabin, Lincoln sitting on a log, Lincoln standing in front of the state capitol of Illinois, and an unfinished U.S. Capitol Building (the way it was when he was president.) For the past several years, there has is a shield on the back representing the preserved union (2010-Present).

Add one of each reverse to the child’s collection.

Don’t forget to mention the words, the date, and the mintmark.

The words include “One Cent,” “In God We Trust,” “Liberty,” “The United States of America,” and “E Pluribus Unum” which means “Out of many, one.”

Also, look for and find the year minted and the mintmark.

Find and add a coin from the child’s birth year to the child’s collection.

Look at the mintmark. It is a letter on the front of the coin under the date. The “D” is for Denver, the “S” for San Francisco, and the absence of a mintmark means the coin was minted in Philadelphia.

Add coins with the different mintmarks to the child’s collection.

Keep the collection safe in a small box or a Ziploc bag. Have fun. Add to the collection as time goes by.

My Review:

Dennis Conrad has written a great children’s book in his new release, The Two Cent Piece. It is, also, the start to his series called In God We Trust. Even though, this is for younger readers, I greatly enjoyed reading it for myself. I have been fascinated by old coins since I was a child and thought it was fun to read a story about the two cent piece. I thought Anne’s story was sweet and inspiring to read and I loved the lessons learned along the way.

The Two Cent Piece is beautifully illustrated by the talented artist Courtney Smith. I loved seeing the pictures on each page and getting the visual as to what is going on with the text. A wonderful addition to the book for the youngest of readers to follow along with the story and hold their attention.

The Two Cent Piece will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading inspiring historical fiction and are between the ages of five and eleven years old. I am looking forward to reading more books from In God We Trust series, including the second installment, Marcus and the Emperor's Coin, to see what else I would be learning about the coin.

Collecting Coins Can Change Your Life! It Did Mine…

As a child, my friends and I wanted to know everything about coins.

We learned about coins through stories: Who was on each coin? What were coins made of? How were coins made? Where were they made? Why were some more valuable than others? and How could I start collecting on my limited budget?

Coin collecting is a hobby where collectors never stop learning! For example, when I started to watch coin prices, without realizing it, I was learning basic economics.

Over the years, I kept adding to my collection. Decades passed. I attended coin conventions, read books and articles about coins, and remembered where I had found and/or acquired each coin.

One day, my wife looked at me. “Will you ever sell your coins?”

“No.”

That is when I heard God’s still small voice.

God pointed out to me that my coins had become more important than Him. Without my realizing it, my coins had become an idol.

At that time, at the top of the market, I sold my collection without regrets, and used the money to pay off my home mortgage.

Now, God has given me the privilege of writing stories about coins, and encouraging others to embrace a hobby that has given me a lifetime of joy.

Blessings to you and yours,

Dennis Conrad

Dennis Conrad has written a great children’s book in his new release, The Two Cent Piece. Even though, this is for younger readers, I greatly enjoyed reading. I have been fascinated by old coins since I was a child and thought it was fun to read a story about the two cent piece. I thought Anne’s story was sweet and inspiring to read.

I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of The Two Cent Piece. The narrator, Jenn Leigh Pengelly, did a fantastic job at performing this story. I loved listening to her voice as she read it.

The Two Cent Piece will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading historical fiction and are between the ages of five and eleven years old.
