Review: From This Moment by Kim Vogel Sawyer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blurb:

A lost ring brings together two wounded souls--a youth minister haunted by the past and a spunky church custodian--in this heartwarming romance from the bestselling author of The Librarian of Boone's Hollow.

Growing up in the foster care system, Jase Edgar always dreamed of one day starting his own family. But his fiance's untimely death shattered his plans. Moving to Kansas and serving as a youth minister should be a fresh start, but he can't seem to set aside his doubts about God's goodness long enough to embrace his new life.

Newly-appointed church custodian, Lori Fowler is battling her own challenges. Her strained relationship with her father and her struggles with overeating convince her she's not worthy enough for love. When an Amish weaver enlists their help locating the owner of a ring found among the donated clothing she uses as fabric, Jase and Lori find themselves drawn to each other. But will they be able to release the past and move forward from this moment into a joyful future?

Review: Unveiling the Past by Kim Vogel Sawyer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blurb:

Mysteries, family secrets, and learning to love and trust again rest at the heart of this contemporary novel from the best-selling author of Bringing Maggie Home .

Newlyweds and cold case detectives Sean and Meghan Eagle have been given the task of investigating the twenty-years-past disappearance of a husband and father, Anson Menke. A judge ruled that the missing man chose to leave the country and abandon his family, but his wife wouldn't concede that he left his family nor declare him dead. Their mother now gone, his children want answers.

As Sean and Meghan follow the man's last known steps, they also involve themselves in a more personal inquiry: locating Meghan's biological father. But as Meghan struggles to balance her work and her new role as a wife, she becomes terrified of failure. She doesn't want to hurt Sean or jeopardize the Menke investigation by falling short of his expectations.
When her mother, Diane DeFord, sees Meghan's turmoil, she decides to take action, potentially reuniting father and daughter. As the two searches intertwine, Meghan must become vulnerable with Sean, letting him into her life and being a true partner, while letting her heart be tender to God, the One who truly knows the journey each disrupted life needed to take to Him.

A Silken Thread by Kim Vogel Sawyer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blurb:

For readers who love a heartwarming romance and a rich historical setting comes a tale of a young woman with a heavy burden, the International Cotton Exposition, and the pursuit of true love.

Eighteen-year-old Laurel Millard, youngest of seven children, is expected to stay home and "take care of Mama" by her older siblings, but Laurel has dreams of starting her own family. Operating a silk loom at the Atlanta Exposition will give her the chance to capture the heart of a man wealthy enough to take care of Laurel and any children she might bear, as well as her mother.

Langdon Rochester's parents have given him an ultimatum: settle down with a wife or lose his family inheritance. At the Exposition, Langdon meets Laurel. Marrying her would satisfy his parents's command, she would look lovely on his arm for social events, and in her besotted state, he believes she would overlook him continuing pursuing rowdy adventures with his unmarried buddies. Langdon decides to woo Laurel. Willie Sharp is not well-off and must take on an extra job at the Atlanta Exposition as a security guard. When mischief-makers cause trouble in the Women's Building, Willie is put in charge of keeping the building secure. He enjoys visiting with Laurel, who seems like the little sister he never had, but his feelings for Laurel change to something much deeper. Can Willie convince Laurel that he can give her better life--even with so little to offer?

My Review:

Kim Vogel Sawyer has done it once again with A Silken Thread. She knows how to write a story full of grace and this one is no exception. Her vision of what it was like a few decades after the Civil War in Georgia was fascinating. It is a wonderful story of hope and love.

I am giving A Silken Thread a well deserved five stars. I highly recommend this beautiful, well written and inspirational story.

Review: Ours for a Season by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Blurb (from Amazon):

An Old Order Mennonite couple's vows and beliefs are challenged in this stirring contemporary novel for fans of Cindy Woodsmall or Shelley Shepherd Gray.

Anthony and Marty Hirschler are part of an Old Order Mennonite community in Pine Hill, Indiana. The couple has grown apart since a doctor confirmed they would never have children. Marty longs to escape the tight-knit area where large families are valued, and the opportunity to do so arises when her childhood friend, Brooke Spalding, resurfaces with the wild idea of rebuilding a ghost town into a resort community. Brooke hires Anthony to help with the construction, drawing the Hirschlers away from Indiana and into her plan, and then finds herself diagnosed with cancer. Moral complications with Brooke's vision for a casino as part of the resort and the discovery of a runaway teenager hiding on the property open up a world neither the Hirschlers nor Brooke had considered before. Will they be able to overcome their challenges and differences to help the ones among them hurting the most?

My Review:

Kim Vogel Sawyer has done it once again with Ours for a Season. While reading this story, I experienced a variety of emotions - from giggling to grabbing a box of tissues. I honestly was not sure what I thought of Brooke at first, but she grew on me within the first quarter of the book. I absolutely loved Marty from the start. Her and Brooke had a special bond. So great to see such a great friendship. This plot to me was relatable with true to life issues.

Ours for a Season gives me yet another reason why Kim Vogel Sawyer is one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend for those who love a good, clean, and inspiring story. I give it a well deserved five plus stars.

Review: Beneath a Prairie Moon by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Blurb (from Amazon):

Abigail Brantley grew up in affluence and knows exactly how to behave in high society. But when she is cast from the social registers due to her father's illegal dealings, she finds herself forced into a role she never imagined: tutoring rough Kansas ranchers in the subjects of manners and morals so they can "marry up" with their mail-order brides. Mack Cleveland, whose father was swindled by a mail-order bride, wants no part of the scheme to bring Eastern women to Spiveyville, Kansas, and he's put off by the snooty airs and fastidious behavior of the "little city gal" in their midst. But as time goes by, his heart goes out to the teacher who tries so diligently to smooth the rough edges from the down-to-earth men. How can he teach her that perfection won't bring happiness?

My Review:

Beneath a Prairie Moon is another fabulous read by Kim Vogel Sawyer. This right her is one of the reasons why she is my favorite author. It is a delightful, fun, clean, sweet and, sometimes, hysterical historical, full of faith and inspiration. I loved Abigail from the start and found myself laughing out loud when she was introduced to the town people of Spiveyville. What a bunch of entertaining characters. Abigail sure had her hands full with them trying to “teach” them how to be good husbands.

I give Beneath a Prairie Moon a well-deserved 5 plus stars and highly recommend it. Wonderful read!

Review: Bringing Maggie Home by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Blurb (from Amazon):

Decades of Loss, an Unsolved Mystery,
and a Rift Spanning Three Generations

Hazel DeFord is a woman haunted by her past. While berry picking in a blackberry thicket in 1943, ten-year old Hazel momentarily turns her back on her three-year old sister Maggie and the young girl disappears.

Almost seventy years later, the mystery remains unsolved and the secret guilt Hazel carries has alienated her from her daughter Diane, who can’t understand her mother’s overprotectiveness and near paranoia. While Diane resents her mother’s inexplicable eccentricities, her daughter Meghan—a cold case agent—cherishes her grandmother’s lavish attention and affection.

When a traffic accident forces Meghan to take a six-week leave-of-absence to recover, all three generations of DeFord women find themselves unexpectedly under the same roof. Meghan knows she will have to act as a mediator between the two headstrong and contentious women. But when they uncover Hazel’s painful secret, will Meghan also be able to use her investigative prowess to solve the family mystery and help
both women recover all that’s been lost?

My Review:

Bringing Maggie Home is another great read by Kim Vogel Sawyer. It is a little different than what I am used to by her. However, this book just proves how talented Of an author she truly is. She can tackle any genre, content, or storyline, and still have that signature "Kim Vogel Sawyer" style.

Bringing Maggie Home did not disappoint me in any way. It is a beautiful story of hope, faith, and forgiveness. If a reader is like me and gets into the emotions of their books,  then they need to get their tissues ready.

A wonderful, inspirational read. Loved it! One of my favorite books of the year.

100 stars.

Review: Grace and the Preacher by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Grace and the Preacher is set in Fairland, Kansas, during late 1882. The town awaits the arrival of the new preacher, Reverend Dille, Grace Cristler's pen pal. The two had been writing letters to one another for months. Theophil Garrison find himself on the run from his cousin. The cousin that talked Theo into a train robbery that failed. The cousin was arrested and Theo was able to flee before capture. While Theo was on the run, he finds fatally ill Reverend Dille and traded identities with him. Like all of the other books written by Kim Vogel Sawyer, Grace and the Preacher is full of faith and inspiration. There are scenes that just give me the giggles and others that warms my heart. There is, also, some action and adventure.

I really like Theo and Grace and enjoy them together, making me root for them until the end.

I highly recommend this sweet, inspiring and  fun story. This is a definite must read.
