My Review: 

The Seven Hungers: Rise of the Crimson King is a fun and entertaining read. This is the first book I have read by Morgan Quaid. Though it is not part of my go to genre, I thought it was one that kept interested all throughout. It is definitely not one that can be easily predicted. There was a lot of action, adventure and horror. It truly is amazing how the author was able to come up with such a out of this world story. 

I am giving The Seven Hungers: Rise of the Crimson King four and a half stars. Fans of fantasy and science fiction will want to pick this one up. I would be interested in reading the other books from The Seven Hungers series. 

I received a paperback copy of The Seven Hungers: Rise of the Crimson King from the publisher but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Finally hearing her voice, Jay set the pencil on the desk. “I’m serious about this wedding. Lately, I haven’t been showing that side of me, but I promise, all that is going to change. I’m going to be more involved like I should’ve been in the beginning.”

 

“You better,” Carmen replied, rising from her chair. “I don’t know what’s going to happen if we have this conversation again.” She picked up the rest of the papers, organizing the documents into a stack, which she set on top of her laptop. “Everything will be right here if you want to look at it. I’m gonna head upstairs. I’m done for the day.”

 

Jay didn’t pressure her into staying, but he did make sure to get a kiss before she left. To him, the kiss served as confirmation he was officially in her good graces. He still had a lot to prove, but at least he was off to a start. The only thing he had to do now was play catch up.

Once she left, he reached for the stack of papers. He reviewed each one until he was up to date. For Carmen to be the only person majorly contributing aside from the planners, she had put a major dent in the planning stage. There were still things which needed to be decided upon, which led Jay to grab a sheet of paper from the printer. He started jotting down ideas and by the time he was there was hardly any white space on either side of the page.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

 

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Vogue’s journey through the world of creative writing first began in middle school with poetry and songwriting. However, it was her discovery of prose that opened the door to a world of endless possibilities.

 

A graduate of Winthrop University (Rock Hill, S.C.), possessing a bachelor’s degree in social work, Vogue, first birthed the idea of The Diamond Collection in the halls of her alma mater. In 2003, she put pen to paper and thus was created, Diamonds in The Rough, part one of The Diamond Collection series.

 

By 2010, Vogue had written drafts of the entire ten book series and in June of 2010, Diamonds in The Rough, was published. Soon followed by Diamonds Are Forever in October of 2010, The Ace of Diamonds in February of 2013, and Black Diamonds on July 4, 2015, Vogue joined a league of other writers, determined to make her mark in the literary world.

 

Vogue released the fifth book in the series, Diamonds N’ Roses, on December 25, 2016. She took a hiatus to earn a Master of Fine Arts degree from Queens University in Charlotte, NC, but released parts six and seven of the Diamond Collection series, The Diamond Tiara and Dirty Red Diamonds, on June 7, 2022.

My Review: 

Tom Vaughan’s book, Hope . . . and the Hedgehog: Life? Death? And then what? Our personal quest..., was an intriguing and thought provoking book to read. It offers some new ways of thinking about questions many other readers often wonder or ask. I loved how there were quotes from those from the past that gave their own interpretations. I like that it was not overpowering on preachy topics and uses different diverse opinions and thoughts. It was one that offers hope that I have been seeking within myself for a while now. The book is quite short and so easily to read in just a few short hours and should be read again and again. This is one of those books that I will add to my very limited keeper shelf to keep on hand and reread in the near future to remind me what I have learned the first time around of reading it.

I am giving Hope . . . and the Hedgehog: Life? Death? And then what? Our personal quest... a very well deserved five plus stars. Readers who are looking for new perspectives on life and death. I would be interested in reading more like this by Tom Vaughan in the future.

My Review:

I thought An Unlikely Angel to be a heartwarming and entertaining movie to watch. I thought it had a modern day "It's a Wonderful Life" feel to it. I loved how the movie gives us all the glimpse of what our future would look like if we keep choosing the path we are currently on. I loved the reminder for parents that making time for what is important. Having a family takes hard work and kids need to be able to have those special moments where they have their parents' undivided attention. Being successful doesn't always mean to be part of the corporate world. I found the movie to be wonderful with the elements of faith, inspiration, and the beauty of embracing life.

I am giving An Unlikely Angel a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for families of all ages.

I had an amazing thing happen when first beginning The Sugar Baron’s Governess. My precious husband had booked a week for us in a comfortable condo at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to help me concentrate on my plotstorming—without the “do me” call of our vacuum, washing machine, or phone calls when at home. Of course, he likes to fish from a pier while I’m writing.

 

The first morning I sat at the kitchen table overlooking the Atlantic, with my laptop, researching Jamaica and especially the historic Maroon settlement of warriors and escaped slaves in the mountains that could play a part in my story. I was also praying for the Lord to help get a good start on this fourth novel in my series. Should I even be including the fierce Maroons in my plot?

 

A knock came at the door. I had requested no room service, so I was surprised to be interrupted. When I answered it, a black male employee asked if we needed any cleaning done or fresh linens. I almost gave him a short answer, wanting to get back to my laptop, but my ear discerned a British accent. –Here’s our amazing conversation:

 

“Where are you from?”

 

“Jamaica.”

 

I opened the door wide and invited him in. “That’s most interesting. I’m writing a novel set in Jamaica.”

 

His eyes widened. “You are?”

 

“Yes, in fact,” I gestured to my laptop, “I’m right now researching a group of warriors in historic Jamaica, called the Maroons. Know anything about them?”

 

His mouth fell open. “I’m a descendant of the Maroons.”

 

I got a tingling chill up my arm. How likely was this kind of thing to happen? He further told me he never worked the 15^th floor but for whatever reason, had been assigned our floor that day. He told me was a Christian, and he shared several things with me about the Maroons and how they finally won their independence and rights the British government of Jamaica had long withheld. At times, because of their desperate existence, they did hurtle down from their mountain strongholds and burn sugar plantations, as history records.

 

I decided I had a definite confirmation to include the Maroon warriors in my Jamaican story. They are instrumental in convincing my hero Joshua Becket to turn back to God when his life and plantation are sorely threatened. Whoops, there I go giving away some of the story! Hope you enjoy Joshua and Abigail’s exciting, romantic adventure in Jamaica. Can they survive and make it back to Charleston and a happily ever after?

My Review

Elva Cobb Martin has done it once again in her newest and fourth installment from her Charleston Brides series, The Sugar Baron's Governess. This one may be my new favorite of the series to date. I enjoyed going back in time and meeting Abigail and Joshua. A beautiful story of love, faith, and adventure. I loved every single page that made me want to keep turning the pages until I was completely done in one sitting. 

I am giving The Sugar Baron's Governess a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romance. I am hoping there will be more releases from the Charleston Brides series to come.

“We’ve won an award! My boss is livid that it’s not for selling the most junk in the least amount of time, but hey. Can I help it if folks are tuning in from all over the country to listen in on the heart troubles of folks around here? So far, we’re credited with three engagements, six marriages, and a whopping thirty-five saved relationships! I don’t know who nominated us for that award, but thank you!

This really is supposed to be a show for selling your old comic book collection or that garden wagon your husband just had to have until he discovered he really hates gardening. “So declutter the junk from your closets, your garages, your barns and what have you as you try to declutter the troubles from your life, okay? Now… I’ve got Jeff Corbin on the line, let’s see what he’s got for us today….”

And that’s how it all started.

Well, sort of. You see, I spent six weeks at my mom’s house back in late 2019. And one of the things Mom did every day was listen to the Dial-a-Trade show. She never bought a thing, but she listened. And, since I was in the room, I learned a lot about that show.

Some people seemed to call a few times a week. I finally decided they were lonely and it was how they kept a connection with other people. Others were obviously selling things out of spite—ex boyfriends, girlfriends, or spouses beware!

Basically, it was a great way to get rid of stuff and a great way to figure out what was going on in the lives of folks in the area.

So, when Lisa Prysock reminded me that she’d invited me to be a part of this series, I knew immediately that my first book would most definitely include a radio host for a sale show who just can’t help but solve people’s relational problems.

My Review

Dial W for Wrangler is the seventh installment from the multi author series, You Are on the Air, and, also, Chautona Havig’s contribution to it. I always enjoy her books and this one is no different. I thought it was a pretty good read. I found that Wade and Ainsley’s story was a delight. I enjoyed the faith element of it and being inspired by it. I liked it!

I am giving Dial W for Wrangler four and a half stars. Readers who enjoy reading books with clean romance will want to snatch this one up. I look forward to reading the next installment from the You Are on the Air series, Elaine Manders’ Dial D for Daring.
