CHILDREN WHO DANCE IN THE RAIN Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

Children Who Dance in the Rain is a sweet children’s book by Susan Justice. I thought this was a sweet book that teaches children, as well as, adults the important lessons of being kind and gracious. I thought the characters were good role models for the readers to see how they can change the world around them. I loved getting a chance to take this journey to India with Sophie and her family. I believe this was a beautiful and heartwarming book to read. It was quite the adventure to take with my own children and spending time with them as they ask questions all throughout.
Children Who Dance in the Rain is beautifully illustrated by the talented artist. Lena Bardy. Their pictures perfectly go with the author’s tale and words on each page. I thought they were a wonderful addition and helpful for readers to keep interested in the book.

I am giving Children Who Dance in the Rain a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who are between the ages of three and eight. It would make a wonderful placement in elementary classrooms and / or in a public children’s library. I would love to see what other delightful children’s stories Susan Justice has in store for her young readers.

I received a hard cover copy of Children Who Dance in the Rain from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: The Title Wave by Chautona Havig

About the Book

Book:
The Title Wave

Author: Chautona Havig

Genre: Christian Contemporary Romance

Release date: April 25, 2023

All he wants to do is help people, but local women want to help themselves… to him!

When Henri Tupuola returned to Suamalie to open his holistic mental health clinic, he had no idea what he was getting into. After ten years in Australia getting his degree and practical experience under his mentor, the locals had all but forgotten the quiet “boy”  who had always made them feel like he could see right through them.

Not anymore! The ladies of Lafoina are eager to meet the island’s therapist and spend hours staring deeply into his eyes on their weekly dates… ahem, sessions.

Desperate for relief, he hightails it down to The Title Wave and begs Ezra to order him a couple dozen copies of his own book. Yes, author copies would be cheaper, but he needs these things fast. Maybe if he hands out his book like an old-time quack handed out pills, the ladies will get the hint and leave him alone.

But when he tells his troubles to Ezra (who’s the therapist now?), and she jokes at how much her father would love to have people flocking to his “sessions” so to speak, Henri gets an idea that could save his sanity… if only Ezra will agree.

Take a trip to the Suamalie Islands where palm trees sway, the sand and sea pulse with life, and the people will steal your heart.

About the Author

USA Today Bestselling author Chautona Havig lives in an oxymoron, escapes into imaginary worlds that look startlingly similar to ours and writes the stories that emerge. An irrepressible optimist, Chautona sees everything through a kaleidoscope of It’s a Wonderful Life sprinkled with fairy tales. Find her at chautona.com and say howdy—if you can remember how to spell her name.

More from Chautona

It happens with every book—probably for every author. What “it” is… that’s always different. Sometimes it’s the moment you realize that your character has morphed into someone you didn’t intend for him to. Other times it might be that you discovered a huge plot hole in your mystery and there’s no way any of it would have happened (not that I’ve ever had to deal with that or anything). It could be that your characters don’t have chemistry (and that doesn’t have to be romance—friends should have it!). Let’s face it. Lots of things can derail a book.

And if you don’t lay some new track fast (think Gromit in A Grand Day Out laying tracks as fast as he can as the toy train hurtles him after the penguin), your story could end up as the biggest trainwreck this side of… wherever they have bad train wrecks.

Or in my case, sink the book boat.

So there was blithely typing my first chapter when I realized something was wrong with my premise for The Title Wave. See, I had a plan. This would be a fake-dating romance. A local therapist needs a fake girlfriend to get the women to quit hitting on him when he was supposed to be helping them with their problems. Reasonable right?

Yeah. There’s all kinds of problems with this… starting with the fact that I don’t actually enjoy FAST romances… and I wanted them together—like totally committed—by the end of the book. OOPS! Not only that, but come on. Fake boyfriend/girlfriend? Ezra is an MK. This girl isn’t going to want to live a deception like that. She’s got a sensitive conscience, thanks to close ties with the Holy Spirit Who indwells her. She’s not going to do that.

But I needed her to.

I have this group of ladies who read everything as I write it. Most have been with me for over ten years! So, when I realized my book was in serious trouble (as in drowning before it really got out to sea!), I went to them and told them what I wanted/needed to happen and why it wasn’t going to work.

Guess what? They came through for me (as they always do—love you, Escapeables!). After just a bit of tossing out ideas and lobbing them back and forth, things fell into place.

Yes, Henri will approach Ezra with the idea.

Yes, Ezra will have a fake boyfriend.

And yes, being the romance it is… they WILL be committed by the end and without irritating myself with a bunch of insta-love.

Somehow. Since I’m writing this before it all plays out, we’ll both have to see just how that all works out. Join me for a cruise through love-tossed waters?

My Review

The Title Wave is the third installment and Chautona Havig’s contribution to the Suamalie Islands series. It was a delight to travel back to these beautiful islands once again and meeting the main characters, Ezra and Henri. Those two were hilarious together. I could not help but to laugh at some of the events they get into. It was fun and entertaining to read. I could not put it down until the last page.

I am giving The Title Wave a very well deserved five plus stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean romance with a beachy setting. I look forward to the next installment from the Suamalie Islands series, Susan K. Beatty’s A Heart for News.

Can a wager to find a wife turn into a true love match?

Entered into a wager that he can wed within a week, Captain Alex Bancroft pursues the first pretty woman he meets: Miss Emma Washer. Their courtship proceeds at a furious pace, including a dalliance that might ruin them both. Before it can, Alex proposes and is stunned when Emma agrees to marry him. Alex desperately tries to keep word of the wager from his new wife, not knowing Emma has secrets of her own to keep.

As passion erupts between the newly wed pair, the circumstances of Emma’s past threaten to tear them asunder. Alex’s regiment is directed to sail to a place Emma dares not go.

She refuses to accompany him, leaving Alex with a devastating choice: leave England to fulfil duty to Queen and country or stay and revel in his newfound love for his wife?

Read an Excerpt

“Mrs. Dowland, might we save the rest of the tour for another time? My wife and I are rather fatigued and wish to retire until dinner.”

“Of course, Captain. The master bedroom is just here.” She opened the door behind them onto a large bedchamber, the main component being a massive four-poster oak bed jutting majestically into the center of the room. The covers and bedcurtains were again in masculine colors of maroon and blue, and the walls papered in a dark floral paisley that Emma loved on sight. “I see Buckleigh and James have put your things there.” She motioned to their trunks. “I’ll make sure you are undisturbed until the dinner gong sounds. Do you prefer to dine at seven or eight o’clock?”

“Eight,” Alex replied quickly. “Thank you, Mrs. Dowland. You’ve been a great help. That will be all for now.”

“Very good, Captain.” With one last nod and a hint of a smile, Mrs. Dowland left, pulling the door closed.

“At last. I thought she’d never leave.” Alex turned to Emma, pulled her close, and sank his mouth down on hers.

When they finally came up for air, Emma’s head was whirling. “I thought you said we needed to rest.”

“I said we needed to retire.” He’d already begun pulling at his cravat, his gaze darkening when it fell on her. “Are you tired, my love?” Unbuttoning his jacket in record speed, Alex stripped it from his body and tossed it over his shoulder. “Do you need rest…or something else, perhaps?”

“B…but it’s still daylight.” She’d always assumed for some reason that marital relations were relegated to the hours of darkness, perhaps because they were too intimate to be done in the light of day. Maybe she’d been wrong about that.

Blurb Blitz and Giveaway: Excellence Through Mental Strength by Lionel Baugh

Excellence through Mental Strength

by Lionel Baugh

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Self-help / personal development
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Have you ever felt like your weaknesses were holding you back from opportunities in life? Or feared you don't have the skill set to tackle new experiences? Perhaps you've even worried about just not being as naturally talented as the people around you?

Excellence Through Mental Strength will not only dispel your concerns but will also teach you how to reframe your perception of self. You're already more capable than you realize, and this step-by-step guide will show you how to recognize the true power of your strengths-so you can 'make the shift' into a growth mindset and take back control of your future.

Never let your perceived 'weakness' into the driver's seat of your life again. Bolster your mental strengths instead and pave the road you want to travel with grounded confidence in who you are, where you're going, and what you bring to the table.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
How you manage your attention is at the heart of mental strength. Like everything you learn, your ability to do so improves with practice. Imagine the following: Katrina was having a lively conversation with friends at the office. She wanted to buy a new car. One of her friends, Charles, always opinionated, made a strongly worded recommendation: ‘Katrina, based on your profile and personality, there’s only one car for you—A VW Golf!’ On the way home, a curious thing happened. Generally uninterested in cars, Katrina began to notice VW Golf ’s in the traffic. The traffic was slow. It was as if all the other vehicles were just vehicles. Cars, vans, SUVs blurred into a mass of noisy movement. This was the mass migration of rush-hour. However, VW Golfs kept showing up, on her left, in front, just a little to the right, in her rear-view mirror. Gray ones, blue ones, old models, new ones. The traffic steadily seemed to become a river full of 25 VW Golfs. She even noticed one parked at a strip mall, another getting its gas refilled. As she arrived at her driveway, she noticed that even her next door neighbor had a VW Golf. Previously, it had been just a ‘car’. She took this as an omen and bought one the next Saturday. ; Katrina was amazed by what happened because she’s not aware of how the brain works. The brain is largely a giant filtering machine. It maintains focus by eliminating what you don’t want to notice so you can focus on what you do. If this wasn’t so, we’d live in a state of perpetual confusion.
My Review
Forever Yours is part of the multi author series, Clean Slate, and a contribution to it by the talented author, Annee Jones. I enjoyed this quick and sweet story of love, faith and hope. I loved getting to know the main characters of Callie and Jackson. Their story is slightly predictable but definitely worth reading. I thought it was a heartwarming tale that took me no time to read in one sitting. A wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon.
I am giving Forever Yours four and a half stars. I believe lovers and fans of clean romance will want to read this one and not regret it. I would be interested in reading more by Annee Jones in the future.
Review: Counter Attack by Patricia Bradley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Blurb:
No sooner has Alexis Stone been sworn in as the interim sheriff for Russell County, Tennessee, when a serial killer dubbed the Queen's Gambit Killer strikes again--this time in her hometown. Pearl Springs is just supposed to be a temporary stop along the way to Alex's real dream: becoming the first female police chief of Chattanooga. But the killer's calling card--a white pawn and a note with a chess move printed on it--cannot be ignored.
Pearl Springs chief of police Nathan Landry can't believe that his high school sweetheart Alexis (he refuses to call her Alex) is back in town, and he can't help wanting to protect the woman he never stopped loving. But as the danger mounts and the killer closes in, can Nathan come through on the promises he makes to himself to bring a killer to justice before it's too late.
My Review:
Counter Attack is the beginning of Patricia Bradley's Pearl River series. Patricia Bradley has really started this series off with a bang. I enjoyed traveling to Pearl Springs and meeting Alexis and Nathan. I found those to be a fabulous team trying to solve who is the serial killer in town. It was not easy to predict, with a lot of twists and turns, and forcing me to continue to read until the very last page. This is now my new favorite I have read by this author.
I am giving Counter Attack five stars. I believe fans and loves of clean suspense filled fiction will definitely want to pick it up and experience for themselves how wonderful it is. I can not wait to see what happens next in the Pearl River series.
I received a paperback copy of Counter Attack from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
Blog Tour and Giveaway: Shadow Dancing by Jennifer Sienes
About the Book
Book:
Shadow Dancing
Author: Jennifer Sienes
Genre: Christian Women’s Fiction/Southern fiction
Release Date: April 18, 2023
Wading through grief is like dancing with shadows.
Bekah Casey’s been on a tear for near a year, and the anger clings to her like cheap perfume. If only the Lord would wash it away like He did with her sins, she might could find her way out of the mire. Instead, she escapes from the one person to blame for all her ills—her husband Mitch.
Now she’s living with her mama and daddy, working two jobs, and facing a future that looks bleak as a middle-Tennessee winter. Her mama’s all the time telling her that the good Lord works in ways too confounding to comprehend, and if she’d learn to trust in Him, her life will look a might brighter. Easy for her to say.
When things go from dark to disastrous, Bekah figures she’s got two choices—sink in her sin or dig her way out.
Mitch Casey never did put a whole lot of stock in faith. Didn’t appear it helped Bekah any either since hers went sideways the minute things got hard. Still, he’s willing to take whatever abuse she throws his way if it helps her muddle through the grief. Then one poor decision, a night in jail, and a divine assignment with a local pastor puts Mitch on an unexpected path.
When you’re dancing with shadows, who gets to lead? Find out in the next book in the Bedford County series.
About the Author
Jennifer Sienes holds a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in education but discovered life-experience is the best teacher. She loves Jesus, romance and writing–and puts it altogether in inspirational contemporary fiction. Her daughter’s TBI and brother’s suicide inspired two of her three novels. Although fiction writing is her real love, she’s had several non-fiction pieces published in anthologies–two in Chicken Soup for the Soul. She has two grown children and one very spoiled Maltese. California born and raised, she recently took a step of faith with her real-life hero and relocated to Tennessee.
More from Jennifer
Last year I was interviewed on a Christian podcast, and the host asked me, “How do you come up with your story ideas?” There are as many answers to this question as there are authors, but he wasn’t satisfied with mine. I told him they truly come from the Lord. I think he wanted tips to encourage would-be writers. I’m sorry to disappoint, but although I might have a story sketch in my mind, it never matches the completed project. Why? Because I’m not in control.
Over the last several years, I’ve discovered that my writing journey is as much spiritual as it is creative. Shadow Dancing is a perfect example. It started with my intention to fictionalize the past marital difficulties of a young couple in my church. But before I finished the first chapter, it became clear the Lord had other ideas. The initial plot I’d fixed in my head doesn’t resemble the finished novel in any way—unless you consider the main characters are separated. The theme of my novels always reflects what I’m wrestling with in my heart at the time I’m writing it.
The major theme in Shadow Dancing is God’s sovereignty. Most of us have no problem accepting His will as long as our lives are going well. It’s when something difficult happens we begin to doubt His goodness. How often have you seen a tragedy pull a fellow Christian away from the Lord? The question, “Why would a loving God allow bad things to happen to good people?” has been a stumbling block for many people—both Christians and non-Christians alike.
But sometimes it’s the tragedies in life that draw people closer to God as they realize He’s the only hope they can cling to. This was the case for me. I believed in God, but I didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, when my ex-husband of 23 years abandoned me. This was on the tail-end of my daughter’s near-fatal car accident that left us with months of rehabilitation for traumatic brain injury. It’s when I realized that believing I was in control of my life and that of my children was a lie from the enemy. We cannot protect those we love by hovering over them or keep a marriage intact by sheer will.
I wanted these truths to play out in the lives of Rebekah and Mitch Casey. In the light of heartache, Rebekah’s spiritual walk goes in one direction while Mitch’s goes another. But through it all, they are left with hope. That’s what I desire every word I ever write to point to. The hope we have in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And isn’t it the greatest gift to know our loving and merciful God has us in the palm of His righteous right hand—forgiven and free? So much better than relying on our own flawed and sinful selves.
I pray Shadow Dancing reminds you of everything we have and will continue to have as adopted sons and daughters through Jesus Christ. Hope of eternal life in a world where heartache and sin will be a thing of the past.
My Review
I adored the first book from Jennifer Sienes' The Bedford County Series, Night Songs. I was excited to have the opportunity to read the second installment, Shadow Dancing. I did not know it was possible, but I loved this book even more. I thought it was great. The author did a wonderful job brining out the emotions from the characters that made me feel connected to them. It was a beautiful story of love, hope and faith. I found it to be inspiring to read.
I am giving Shadow Dancing five stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading books that are clean romantic fiction. I am hoping there will be more books to come from The Bedford County Series.
More from Laine
I would love to introduce my friend, best-selling and award-winning author, whom you may not know yet with a little of the behind the scenes insight. She’s a mom, wife, and partners with God making impossible things become possible not only in her life but for thousands of others. She has a unique perspective because she had a seventeen-year-old marriage resurrect, a financial breakthrough after almost filing bankruptcy, a daughter healed from life-threatening illnesses, and three prodigal children delivered that are now free, whole, and healed. In 2006, she realized that what she was doing as a parent was not working. It seemed that her emotional pleas, rules, and religion weren’t helping her bring her prodigal back home. So she decided and made it my mission to partner with God at a whole new level and created a new way of parenting – one that would bring peace to her life, help millions of other parents, and bring their prodigals back home too. Her newest book, The Parent’s Battle Plan: Warfare Strategies to Win Back Your Prodigal is a must-read book to help parent’s with wayward teens and young adults.
My Review
The Parent's Battle Plan: Warfare Strategies to Win Back Your Prodigal by Laine Lawson Craft is an insightful book to read. I thought it gave some practical tips that I could incorporate into my own parenting skills. I thought it offers hope while using the element of faith. It was a good book to read.
I am giving The Parent's Battle Plan: Warfare Strategies to Win Back Your Prodigal five stars. I recommend it for readers who are parents and like reading parental advice books, particularly for those who have a troubled relationship with their own children. I would be interested in reading more advice books from Laine Lawson Craft in the future.
I received a paperback copy of The Parent's Battle Plan: Warfare Strategies to Win Back Your Prodigal from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
