Blog Tour and Giveaway: The Trouble with Nancy by Chautona Havig

About the Book

Book: The Trouble with Nancy
Author: Chautona Havig
Genre: Christian Historical Romance, Western
Release Date: July 18, 2019

Her reputation precedes her, whether the bad guys realize it or not.
Nancy Harrison has finally stepped out of her prissy box and tried to do something helpful–but did she go overboard in her first self-less act?

She can’t ride, she hates horses, and she’s terrified of being alone. What’s a girl to do?

Join the Pony Express, of course.

When Nancy Harrison’s family receives a tax bill they can’t pay, there’s only one option open to them. Her brother, Lewis, will have to join the Pony Express and earn the money that way.

It would have worked, too, if ruffians hadn’t attacked him and broken his leg.

She doesn’t want to do it, of course, but what choice is there? Lose everything or ride a stupid, smelly horse for a few weeks? Nancy decides that she’ll chop off her hair, take to the dusty overland trail, and prove that she isn’t a “flighty little thing.”

But things go from bad to worse as she discovers that riding astride is worse than sidesaddle—especially when you’re not used to it.

Can’t she just go back home to balls, teas, and the hope of a suitor before her twentieth birthday? Sans her hair, of course, because that’ll entice the fellows. Sigh.

My Review

The Trouble with Nancy is my first introduction to Chautona Havig’s writing. My goodness! It will not be the last. This is the second installment from her Gold Diggers series. Even though it is part of a series and I have not read the first book, I felt it could be read as a stand alone. I thought this was a fun read. I could not help but to laughing out loud at Nancy. I admired her courage and determination to being part of the Pony Express. I enjoyed learning some tidbits about this moment in history, too.

I am giving The Trouble with Nancy a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this book for all readers who enjoy a well written and fun historical read. I look forward to catching up on the first book of the series, as well as, reading more by Chautona Havig.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Grand Finale and Giveaway: Hall-O-Ween! by Tia Perkin

Book Tour Grand Finale for
Hall-O-Ween!
By Tia Perkin

We hope you enjoyed the tour! If you missed any of the stops
you'll find snippets, as well as the link to each full post, below:

Launch - Author Interview

What was your motivation behind Hall-O-Ween!? Why did you want to write it?

Hall-O-Ween!” was a follow-up to my other books, “Two!” and “Three!”, which were somewhat autobiographical accounts of life with my twin toddler boys. With those, I wanted to make something for my kiddos to read and hold onto, but they also were a way for me to commemorate their milestones (as crazy as those times were). For “Hall-O-Ween!”, I wanted to continue the series, but also weave in some of my memories and fantasies of Halloween as a kid. Halloween was always one of my favorite times growing up. My dad was always helping my brothers to decorate the front yard (in competition with one of the neighbors) and my mom would help us make our costumes. I wanted to bring all of that excitement to life in my book.

"The illustrations are bright, boldly coloured and illustrate everything the words and phrases are discussing. . . . The best bit to the whole story is how charmingly lovely it begins and ends!"

"I enjoyed the story with a few spooky things, some treats, the costumes, everyone celebrating the holiday, and of course the ending was perfect. It reminded me of my Halloweens as a kid. Halloween was always a celebration at our house, much like the child in the story."

Bookworm Lisa - Guest Post

10 Children's Halloween Books to get you in the Howl-iday spirit!

I LOVE Halloween. From September 1st through November 1st, my house transforms into a sea of orange, dotted with tiny skeletons and black bat decals. Somewhere in one those first crisp mornings, I scour the many bookshelves in our house looking for orange-colored spines with well worn pages. In a reverent stack on the corner of our couch – the reading couch – I put all of the Halloween books I can find. . .

Splashes of Joy - Review

"Your young children will love this adorable book about Halloween by author Tia Perkins. In this book you will find rhymes on each page and then sounds that go with the rhyme."

Life Is What It's Called - Author Interview & Review

Life Is What It's Called - How is your Halloween book different than others on the market?

Tia Perkin - This book uses a lot of onomatopoeia to really take the reader through all of the sights, sounds and smells of Halloween. It's not so much of a traditional plot line with a beginning, middle and end as it is a day-in-the-life of a little boy as he gets ready for Halloween. It's about reinforcing traditions and getting kids excited for what's coming up.

"Hall-O-Ween was an instant hit with my kids (ages 1, 3, 5). We've read it several times over. . . . This is a great book to add to your Halloween picture book collection!"

"This is a fun Halloween tale about the sounds, smells, and movements of three young trick-or-treaters! Hall-O-Ween! is light and fun read for preschool and elementary school aged kids with light and loose rhymes and colorful, entertaining illustrations."

Colorimetry - Guest Post

10 Must-Do Halloween Traditions

I see myself as somewhat of a Halloween connoisseur. Over the years, I have collected Halloween traditions like my kids collect trick-or-treat candy. Here are my top ten Halloween musts. . .

"The book is filled with fun rhymes and beautiful illustrations. It's the perfect treat for your little ghoul!"

Wishful Endings - Guest Post

The Art of "Hall-O-Ween!"

When I started writing “Hall-O-Ween!”, it quickly became clear that a book revolving around a holiday where people eat a lot of candy ALSO needed a lot of *eye* candy, too. In my other books, “Two!” and “Three!”, the majority of the illustrations were done straight on the computer. Simple shapes and vibrant colors drove those books, but I wanted a little more for “Hall-O-Ween!”. I really wanted to stretch myself. . .

"What a lovely book for any child, parent, or teacher! This is such a delightful read about the wonders of Halloween! . . . Highly recommend!"

J. L. Mbewe - Review

"I enjoyed the story. The illustrations were cute and vibrant. I love the color choices. . . . my kids enjoyed it. Definitely one to read out loud."

"I am giving Hall-O-Ween! a well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this delightful little book for children. It is a great way to get the kids into spirit of Halloween."

"Hall-O-Ween is a very cute picture book to read with your kids at this time of the year! As with most picture books, it is the illustrations that tell the story and make the story fun. Hall-O-Ween‘s bold and bright illustrations jump off of the pages. Kids can relate to how excited the little boy is in this book."

Audiobook Blog Tour: The Matriarch Manifesto by Devin Hanson

Audiobook Series Tour: The Immortal Archives by Devin Hanson

Author: Devin Hanson

Narrator: Rhett Samuel Price

Series: The Immortal Archives, Book 2

Length: 10 hours 49 minutes

Publisher: Devin Hanson

Released: Jan. 12, 2018

Genre: Technothriller

For Amazon best-selling author Devin Hanson, the question is not how to achieve immortality, the question is what happens when we do? Throughout the entirety of history, humanity has fought against sickness, old age, frailty, even death itself hoping for eternal life. Countless legends and stories share the same hunt: extend our lifetimes beyond the impossibly brief moment we have. Hanson imagines life beyond those legends and stories - a solar system where humanity has discovered the secret to immortal life, at an extreme cost. What horrors await a society that rests an economy on the most scarce resource man has ever known - eternal life? Join The December Protocol in following three characters uniquely affected by the most amazing technological change humanity has ever experienced. Min, an ageless Earth-born marshal older than the very Martian colonies he fights to enforce a brittle and bleak law upon. Angeline, a young girl terrified by the social and scientific necessities prompted by the promise of eternal life. Marcus, a man brought to his knees by that emperor of all maladies, cancer, willing to pay the ultimate price for perfect health through immortality. The December Protocol rockets the listener into the late 24th century and raises thrilling questions about how far mankind would go to preserve the most precious gift we've ever received: immortality.

Lauren Carr

Meet the author:    With over forty years of writing and publishing experience, international best-selling author Lauren Carr has played an active role in the revolution of independent authors.

While studying for her college degree in English and journalism, Lauren worked as an editor and layout design artist with the federal government in Washington, DC. It was there that Lauren learned the foundations necessary for book publishing.

Lauren’s debut mystery, A Small Case of Murder was a finalist for the Independent Publisher Book Awards. On the heels of that success, she accepted an offer from a traditional publisher for A Reunion to Die For.

When it came time to publish her third book, Lauren rejected offers from two traditional publishers, choosing instead to independently publish It’s Murder, My Son, which made it to #1 in sales on Amazon in cozy mysteries. She has never regretted her decision to become an independent author.

Realizing that she could use her experiences to help other writers achieve their dreams to become published authors, Lauren established Acorn Book Services, offering professional services to independent authors.

The international best-selling author of over twenty-five murder mysteries, Lauren has gone on dozens of virtual blog tours (most with iRead Book Tours!) and has seen first-hand that how an author publishes is irrelevant to success. The key is exposure to potential readers. Virtual blog tours are an excellent avenue for book promotion. Book spotlights, reviews, author guest posts and interviews are forever, unlike in-person book events, which become a memory as soon as they have finished.

With her vast experience, it seemed only natural for Lauren Carr to jump at the opportunity to join the iReads Book Tours team. She lives with her husband, and two spoiled rotten German shepherds on a mountain in West Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.

You can usually find Lauren plotting her next murder mystery in her writer's studio on her mountaintop. Visit Lauren's  website https://mysterylady.net/ to learn more about her murder mysteries, Acorn Book Services, and now iReads Book Tours!
