My Review:

I enjoyed reading The Compassionate Writer: Find Your Voice Enhance Your Story, and Touch Lives. I have thought about writing about my own story for quite a while now but just have not had the confidence in getting it started. Anne E Beall's book gave me more insight on how to find my own voice and doing so with more depth by using emotions. I like the step by step approach and all throughout the book, there are exercises that led into writing prompts that helps with writing vulnerability, meaning, empathy, compassion, and kindness. There are what "to dos", what "not to dos", tips, advice, and inspiration. I found it to be encouraging and helpful for me to start on my new journey in the near future. I feel more hopeful and self assured that I can be more successful.

EMBRACING CALM Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

This past year, I have been interesting in coping with stress and finding more peace in my life. When I heard about Anne E. Beall, PhD's Embracing Calm: Meditation Journeys for Inner Peace, I wanted to get my hands on it to see what it was about. I was not disappointed. The book is broken down into thirty one "Journeys". They included: Luxury Rail Trip, Rose Garden, Winter Walk, Bicycling by the Lake, and Caribbean Island to name a few. Each "Journey" is only about four pages long and easy to fit in each day during my morning coffee. I enjoyed to be able to take this time to really spend for myself and finding relaxation. I loved the scenes described so vividly I felt as though I was transported to a new place of tranquility and serenity. It was as though my five senses were able to experience each place I visited.

I am giving Embracing Calm: Meditation Journeys for Inner Peace a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who are searching for ways to cope with everyday stresses of life and finding their own inner peace. I would love to read more books like this from Anne E. Beall, PhD in the future.

ONLY PRINCE CHARMING GETS TO BREAK THE RULES Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

Only Prince Charming Gets to Break the Rules: Gender and Rule Violation in Fairy Tales and Life is another interesting book I have read by Anne E Beall. I found it to be a thought provoking book to read. The author brings out some interesting insights into gender stereotypes and gender roles of crimes and punishments within famous and even not so famous fairy tales and folk tales many of us around the world have read or known about throughout our lives. I was amazed at how the author was able to tackle so many of these tales and have the ability to be able to analyze them. I admired the research she put into this book and bring these issues into light. I liked reading it.

CINDERELLA DID NOT LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

Cinderella Didn't Live Happily Ever After: The Hidden Messages in Fairy Tales is not my usual genre that I would normally read. It is, also, the first book I have had the pleasure of reading by Anne E. Beall. I thought the author gave me some new insights about life and the beloved fairy tales that I have enjoyed reading in the past. It gave me a new outlook on them while the scrutinizing, examining and evaluating those stories. It was interested on how the author sees the good vs evil and the happy endings to them. At times, I did feel as though it was a little over the top what the author was saying. However, I did mostly understand and agreed. It was entertaining to see the possible hidden meanings and did make me think a little bit more behind it. Overall, it was fascinating to read.

I am giving Cinderella Didn't Live Happily Ever After: The Hidden Messages in Fairy Tales three and a half stars. Readers who enjoy reading books about analyzing real life versus fairy tales we all have loved through the years. I would be curious to see what other books Anne E Beall will come up with next. This one is worth a read.

I received a paperback copy of Cinderella Didn't Live Happily Ever After: The Hidden Messages in Fairy Tales from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
