Blog Tour and Giveaway: Broken Together by Brenda S Anderson and Sarah S Anderson

About the Book

Book: Broken Together

Authors: Brenda S. Anderson & Sarah S Anderson

Genre: Christian Women’s Fiction

Release date: December 1, 2021

How do you persevere when you have no more will to fight?

Jennifer and Chad Taylor had dreamed of opening a coffee and cocoa shop since before they said, “I do.” When Chad is sent to prison for murder despite claiming innocence, that dream—along with their family—is shattered.

After years of fighting for Chad’s release, Jennifer finally breaks free from her shame, anger, and hopelessness, and forges ahead with the dream the two of them once shared. With the help of their college-aged twins, she begins to move forward.

Without Chad.

When their lawyer arrives with news of evidence that may prove Chad’s innocence, a strange mixture of emotions overtakes her. Does she want Chad to return home? He isn’t the same man he once was, and she certainly isn’t the same woman. She’s worked hard to piece the remnants of their family back together, and his coming home could fracture the family once again.

It all comes down to one question. She loves her husband enough to fight for his release from prison, but does she love him enough to fight for their marriage?

Why I Wrote Broken Together

Years ago, I watched a late-night interview with a woman who’d fought to free her husband from prison, and she finally won that fight. Near the end of the show, when the interviewer asked how she and her husband were doing now, she replied that they were divorced. It shocked me that she’d fought so hard for him, but then couldn’t hold their marriage together. I knew then that I needed to explore, through fiction, how that could happen.

I’d put off the idea for years, fearing the topic was larger than I could handle, but the story kept pushing its way through.

My daughter, Sarah, and I had often talked about writing a story together, one that would be set in a coffee and cocoa shop, and Broken Together seemed to be the perfect match. As a former barista, Sarah brought the coffee expertise to the story. As a non-coffee drinker, I insisted equal billing for non-coffee beverages.

Then the legal director for the Great Northern Innocence Project graciously offered to walk me through the many the legal hoops someone has to go through to be released once evidence is found.

With her help, I could no longer avoid writing Jenn and Chad’s story. It was a difficult one to write, but it’s also a story filled with hope.

My Review

Broken Together is a great read by the talented authors, Brenda S. Anderson and Sarah S. Anderson. The characters are true to life and easily relatable for so many. My heart was just breaking for Jennifer and Chad and what they had to endure for so many years. I had to keep reading to see how it would end for them and if they were able to work it out being together and following their dreams.

Broken Together will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean and inspiring fiction dealing with real life issues. As always, I will be looking for more books from the talented Brenda S Anderson and new to author Sarah S Anderson.

I received a digital copy of Broken Together from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Review: A Beautiful Mess by Brenda S. Anderson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blurb:

Can she love the child who broke up her marriage?

Nearly four years ago, Erin Belden's happy life became a shattered mess. After her husband admitted to an affair and that a child had been conceived, he left her and their young daughter for his new family. Now, she's finally ready to put the pieces of her life together. She's set to launch her own business and even thinks her heart might be open to romance--should the right man come along.

But just when everything seems to be lining up, she receives a devastating call: her ex-husband and his wife have been killed in a car accident, and Erin is listed in their will as their daughter's legal guardian.

How can she be a mother to the child--let alone love the child--who broke up her marriage? Does she have the courage to start over yet again and turn this mess into a mosaic of beauty?

A single mother's journey from bitterness to forgiveness.

My Review:

A Beautiful Mess is part of The Mosaic Collection series. I loved this book. I instantly felt a connection to Erin. I could just feel her heartbreak. I enjoyed watching her grow to learn forgiveness and how to move on without resentment. I think a lot of readers would relate to this story and what she was going through.

I give A Beautiful Mess a well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy clean reads with true to life characters.

Review: Place Called Home (The Potter's House #11) by Brenda S Anderson

Blurb (from Amazon):

All she wants is a settled place to call home.
He can't wait to make home a life-long road trip.

All Tessa Chanson ever wanted was a stable place to call home. She thought she'd found that when she moved in with Jared--until his home became her prison. When his control escalates, the only answer is to escape--an escape that's hampered when she falls and fractures her ankle.

While building his graphic design company, Nate Brooks is focused on the future he's dreamed of: traveling around the country from the comfort of his renovated school bus. But when he picks up a wounded, mysterious hitchhiker, those well-laid plans take a backseat to protecting her.

Hobbled by her injury, Tessa fears she'll never find freedom. Or has she found it with the family who graciously opens their home to her? And will Nate's protection put his family--and his heart--at risk?

My Review:

Place Called Home is the eleventh installment from The Potter’s House series. It is by far my favorite book written by Brenda S Anderson to date. I instantly felt connected to Tessa. I was Tessa years ago. The author perfectly captured what an abuse victim goes through (at least with my experience). I would recommend it for those who are looking for hope, faith, and inspiration.

A wonderful reminder that we are never alone.

5 plus stars.

Highly recommended!

Where the Heart Is Series
  • Planting Hope (Where the Heart Is #3)
When flowers and chocolate collide, romance is sure to bloom
Family has always been the one constant in Jess Beaumont’s messy life, so when her parents separate, she puts “Operation: Planting Hope” into action. All she has to do is recreate the circumstances that helped her parents fall in love. Unfortunately, that includes the daunting task of restoring the family cabin’s gardens. When the handsome candy store owner shows up to help, she’s certain she has all the elements required for her parents’ love to bloom again. After all, flowers and chocolate are the perfect ingredients for romance.
Luke Harrison has spent his life trying to win his father’s approval, and a promotion in the family land development business would be a step in that direction. But when he inherits Gran’s candy store, his dreams of being promoted start melting away. Then his dad dangles a Vice President position in front of Luke, with one caveat—acquire the land on both sides of Gran’s store within five months, including the Beaumont cabin, and the promotion is his.
What at first seemed a simple challenge for Luke becomes a tangled mess. Buying the Beaumont cabin and land will nip his blossoming romance with Jess in the bud. Even worse, it could end her parents’ marriage. But if he doesn’t succeed, he could be trading in his corner office for the corner candy store.
MY REVIEW:Planting Hope is the third installment from Brenda S Anderson's Where the Heart Is series. I have loved each and every one of the books of this series, but Planting Hope is by far my favorite. It is such a delightful read full of love, hope, faith and inspiration. I loved the characters, Jess and Luke. The scenes with those two were wonderful. The book toys with the reader's emotions. I was brought to tears at times and had to snicker at others. This is my kind of story. Loved it!
Highly recommended.
