More from Izzy

After I finished Garrett, who worked really hard to hide his contemporary origins when he slipped back to 1769, I thought it would be fun to have someone actually take some technology back to 1769. I also felt bad for Olivia’s grandmother who makes her first appearance in Max. She is a retired physician knitting away and helping out Olivia and Garrett as she can. I thought it was time she had an adventure of her own. And since I love historic areas, and Yorktown has become one of my favorite places, I knew I had to go back at least one more time.

My Review

Rita is a novella written by the talented Izzy James and part of the Yorktown Christmas Time-Travel series. Even though it is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed this quick story and getting to know Rita and Josiah. It was a sweet tale of love, history and having second chances. It was fun going back in time to pre Revolutionary War era Yorktown. At about one hundred and twenty pages, it was easy to read in one sitting.

I am giving Rita four and a half stars. Readers who enjoy reading clean historical fiction, as well as, time travel stories. I look forward to reading more by Izzy James in the future.

I received a paperback copy of Rita from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Garrett by Izzy James

About the Book

Book:
Garrett

Author: Izzy James

Genre: Christian Romance

Release date: November 27, 2020

Garrett Tyler thought he was leaving Ballard House for home, secure in the knowledge that love had finally won-out for his long-time friend Olivia. He steps out the door and into the past, 1769 to be exact. While finding his bearings Garrett stumbles upon a beautiful woman being attacked. He makes sure she gets home and because of his kindness, she allows him to stay in an outbuilding—even believing his time travel story—while he figures out how he will get back to his life in the future. The more time they spend together, the deeper friendship they build, but one thing is going to rip her world apart.

Mercy Hansford is a confidant, independent woman running her own tailor shoppe. Her world is shaken when she is brutally attacked after delivering one of her sought-after shirts. The consequences of this night could be more far-reaching than either of them can guess.

Should Mercy trust a man she barely knows?

Why did I write Garrett?

While I was writing Max I was working through physical therapy prior to a lumbar fusion surgery. My physical therapist’s assistant was a young man named Garrett. He was intrigued that I was a writer and asked me if I would use his name in a book one day. So I had a name.

As I finished writing Max–who came forward in time from 1769–I started thinking about what it would be like for a young person of today to find himself back in 1769.

Garrett of the book bears no resemblance to Garrett of the physical therapy office! Garrett was fun to write. I hope you will enjoy reading it.

My Review

Garrett is the second installment from the Yorktown Christmas Time Travel series by Izzy James. I have not read the first book, Max, and feel that each book can be read as a stand alone. I liked this quick and easy to read novella. I enjoyed reading Garrett and Mercy’s story. I adored Mercy right from the start. Even though she experiences terrible trauma, she showed so much bravery and courage. I was so intrigued with both of them and wanted to see how it would end for them.

I am giving Garrett four and a half stars. I recommend it for reading who enjoy historical fiction, as well as, time travel stories. I look forward to reading the third book from the Yorktown Christmas Time Travel series.

I received a paperback copy of Garrett from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

More from Izzy

I am a Geographer by degree. So maps and the shapes of the earth fascinate me. It keeps me looking at the ground. Where I live in Virginia we still travel the imprint of colonial roads. Former villages have been swallowed by large urban areas, but the land is still there. Amity Archer travels these roads on the adventure to love in The Dollmaker’s Daughter.

It makes The Dollmaker’s Daughter special to me. I have traveled the roads Amity and Simon cover many, many times. The research for this book kept me up nights reading true accounts of traveler and taverns in colonial times.

More from Izzy

Hello! My name is Izzy James. My new book is The Shopkeeper’s Widow. It’s about freedom and second chances. I learned quite a bit of history while researching and writing this book. Did you know that the first showers began to appear in the early 1760’s? I gave Delany one of them in Shopkeeper’s just for fun. It is not likely she would have had a shower at that time, but it is fiction and as such I thought it would be a fun detail to add. We do know that some people did rig up for themselves a semblance of a daily shower by using a bucket full of water suspended above them.

My Review

The Shopkeeper's Widow makes me wonder why this is the first book I have read by Izzy James. This book was fantastic. It was fascinating being transported back in time to Virginia in 1774. I really liked the character of Delaney from the start. The historical details made me feel like I was along with her throughout the story. I had to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. I had the whole book read in one sitting.

The Shopkeeper's Widow is getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy clean historical fiction, set during pre-Revolutionary War era. I will most definitely be looking for more by Izzy James in the future. She has earned herself a new fan.

I received The Shopkeeper's Widow from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
