Blog Tour and Giveaway: Here Lyeth by Johanna Frank

About the Book

Book: Here Lyeth (A Lifeline Fantasy Series Book Three. It can be read as a stand alone)

Author: Johanna Frank

Genre: Religious Fantasy / Coming of Age Fantasy

Release date: November 1, 2024

Answers to her identity lie beneath a gravestone; her own.

Something was missing. It was easy for Lexxie to bury that niggling sense, she had all the love and protection a young woman needed. But when the man she thought to be her father spilled a fever-pitched confession, her content and isolated life ended. Angry and heartbroken, she left the people she loved on a mere hint—her true father lived in Vereiteln Dorf, two villages over. Once there, she’s drawn to an unconsecrated graveyard and patches shocking revelations and broken pieces together, and the more she does, the more her presence in this superstitious village becomes a threat. The perils of a noose amid a 1688 witch hunt lay heavy on her shoulders.

Years earlier, in the same village, young Meginhardt succumbs to a vicious attack. Ethereal beings take him on a time-traveling journey to resolve the lad’s deeply rooted struggles. When Meginhardt learns that some woman named Lexxie is the chosen one to carry forward his father’s line of descendants, fits of jealousy ensue—a dream shattered. It should have been him. He becomes frantic to ensure the demise of this undeserving woman. In apparitional form he delivers her a message, face to face.

Her future lyeth in his words.

More from Johanna

A little heavenly imagination can loosen the chains of life.

My ‘playground’ for creating Here Lyeth was far-reaching, though insulated with firm boundaries. From fictional Germanic villages in days of old in one corner, a low fantasy kingdom where the perished journey to the foot of a guarded gate, in the other.

Admittedly, I took many privileges with beloved values and symbolisms dear to my faith, daring to employ startling imagination for the purpose of enticing generosity of thought for the great …and small …mysteries in life. My favourite, where the waters of a supranatural river flows through time carrying with it various stones, each belonging to a life on Earth, often getting caught in stormy swirls or stuck in a bank of mud, representations of its owner’s personal trials and sufferings.

The story itself, though smattered with biblical senses, is not meant to be a teaching of ways, (I’m not qualified for such!) rather, to provide inklings of encouragement, to set within minds a sublime curiosity—what life might we find after this one?

My hope is you will enjoy the sparkles of divine happenstances, the pulls of faith and the eager wonder of ever-after capers to be pleasing.

Although the third instalment into A Lifeline Fantasy Series as far as publication dates go, Here Lyeth takes the position of first when it comes to the natural flow of time compared to its stand-alone novel-mates, The Gatekeeper’s Descendants and Jophiel’s Secret.

I promise you, Here Lyeth won’t leave you hanging, though it may unearth you a little :)

My Review

I have had the pleasure of reading the previous books from Johanna Frank's A Lifeline Fantasy collection b Johanna Frank. I was happy to have the opportunity to read the newest release, Here Lyeth. Lexxie's story is most definitely my favorite of the collection. Even though the book is part of a series, it can easily be read as a stand alone. It was full of intrigue and adventure. I loved it.

I am going to give Here Lyeth five stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean fantasy fiction. I would love to read more books from the talented Johanna Frank in the near future to see where else her imagination will take her fans to next.

I received a copy of Johanna Frank's Here Lyeth from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

About the Author

Author of The Gatekeeper’s Descendants and Jophiel’s Secret, Johanna writes fiction fantasy with deeper meanings—creating adventures in the world beyond, where everlasting connections exist alongside good old-fashioned battles of good versus evil.

She and hubby enjoy a life filled with the satisfaction coming from hard work and the love and grace captured from treasured family. The fresh greens and sky blues of Ontario summer months, the just out-of-the-oven aromas at European piazzas, and the tender grips of a grandchild’s hug are at the tip-top of Johanna’s most-loved list.

Her commitment to her readers—stories that are soulful, whimsical, and venturous. Because Johanna feels that even a little bit of heavenly imagination can loosen the chains of life.

More from Johanna

I invite you into a world beyond our understanding—one, I hazard to guess, we inevitably wonder about at least once in our lifetime. What exactly do those who have gone before us face after living out their days on earth? What could their watching over us really look like? Did they actually go through a gate? And ah, which one, we might joke.

I dare not suggest I can answer such questions. But take some theological renderings, a good dose of the whole heaven’s gate scene, bits of philosophical ideology about evil, and add in some lovable supernatural characters—the good versus nasty kind, and then? Well, suddenly there’s plenty of havoc to play out on the lives of unsuspecting earthlings, like us, simply trying to get through life as it comes.

A Lifeline Fantasy Series begins with The Gatekeeper’s Descendants where this new world is introduced and carries on into Jophiel’s Secret with all the main characters coming with, though, I must admit, they’ve matured somewhat between the two novels.

Jophiel’s Secret is written such that it can be read as a stand-alone novel. If you like page turning fantasy, celestial imagination, and a few good tugs at your heartstrings, I encourage you to check it out! And I’d love to hear your views.

My Review

I had the pleasure in reading Johanna Frank’s first book from her A Lifeline Fantasy series, The Gatekeeper's Descendants, and was excited to read book two, Jophiel's Secret. I thought it was a great addition to the series. Even though it is part of a series, it can still be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed reading this out of this world tale. I liked there was a little bit of mystery that made want to see what was going to happen next. It was a unique and different little ride I had the chance to go one.

I am giving Jophiel's Secret four stars. Fans of fantasy fiction will definitely want to pick this one up and give it a read. I am interested in reading the next book from A Lifeline Fantasy series to see what else Johanna Frank has in store for her readers.

I received a digital copy of Jophiel's Secret from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

More from Johanna

Hey, hello! It sure is a pleasure to be here 😊.

I’ve always believed it’s a gift when others just happen to come into our lives. Sometimes it’s like a drift and ever so brief, maybe even digital. But always, I like to think anyway; it is for a reason. Sadly, we simply don’t see it that way.

That was just one premise for The Gatekeeper’s Descendants. There is so much more to our life journey than what we see and, therefore, what we could possibly appreciate.

According to some translators of ancient Greek (yes, I google the internet a great deal), the term we so often use today to explain chance happenings, coincidence, is derived from the word synkyrian – a combination of two words: sun and kurios. Sun reported as meaning “together with” and kurios reported as meaning “supreme in authority.” So, a chance happening, meeting someone along one’s path in life? …not an accident. The question becomes why.

As far as the story in The Gatekeeper’s Descendants goes, sure, I had a plot in mind. But those wonderful fictional characters came first, and I quickly discovered they had much to say about their own decisions and paths. Important to me was to incorporate realisms: personality traits, emotional challenges, tough situations and simply, life in general. And then place all such realities alongside characters from an ethereal and lively kingdom. Of course, what would a kingdom be without its rebels? This fantasized world in charge of intervening to make chance happenings actually happen, or, interfering to disrupt the course of one’s path? Well, what fun! I totally loved the adventure of writing this novel. But please, be rest assured. Faith is central in my life, and I did my utmost to treat it with great and utter respect.

And you are part of this equation. That is the most exciting part for me: your experience with the read. One reader told me how grateful she was after reading The Gatekeeper’s Descendants for the hope it gave, particularly as it came at such a perfect time—weeks following the loss of a parent. Another said it brought to her imagination the child she lost at infancy and the absolute joyous wonder of her lively existence now. Yet another felt the appreciation of having a chance at feeling a troubled teen’s point of view and the potential of very real battles that are not always visible. As one reviewer put it, “this is a story that has something to impart to even the most cynical among us.”

Without readers, writers simply wouldn’t have much purpose. So, a heartfelt thank you. I hope you will give The Gatekeeper’s Descendants a chance even if it is a diversion from your normal genre.

I would absolutely love to connect and hear your experience with the story!

And may you journey well!

My Review

The Gatekeeper's Descendants is a wonderful debut for author, Johanna Frank. I found the story to be a different and unique one. One that I did not find predictable and I had to keep reading to find out what would happen with Matthew. My heart just went out to him. He had to endure so much in his young life and it was intriguing to see what would become of him. I found this book to be uplifting and inspiring to read.

I am giving The Gatekeeper's Descendants four and a half stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean fantasy fiction. I would love to read more like this one by Johanna Frank in the near future.

I received a copy of The Gatekeeper's Descendants from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
