Blog Tour and Giveaway: Bold and Brave by K A Cummins

About the Book

Book:
Bold and Brave

Author: K.A. Cummins

Genre: Picture Book

Release Date: August 31, 2023

Sometimes courage is loud like an elephant, and sometimes it’s quiet like a llama.

Lily, a young autistic girl with a vivid imagination, wants to sing the solo in the school’s choir show. However, the thought of standing at center stage turns her heart a gloomy grey. School is overwhelming enough when no one is watching. Now all eyes will be on her. Will she overcome her fear and be bold and brave?

Bold and Brave is a whimsical picture book showcasing the heartwarming bond of family while visually drawing readers into Lily’s experience and inspiring them to be bold and brave. It’s aimed at readers aged 3 to 8.

More from K.A. Cummins

“Bold and Brave” is about a young autistic girl who wants to sing a solo in the school’s choir show. While a colorful pair of socks initially inspired the fiction story, it was my personal experiences as a woman and as a mother that most influenced it.

Stories often use words to draw readers into what a character experiences, but I wanted to do something different for this story. I wanted the illustrations to show readers the parts of the young girl’s experience that are often harder to explain.

For some, the smallest actions can take effort and courage, and their boldness and bravery doesn’t always show on the outside.

I hope “Bold and Brave” inspires readers, and provides an accessible insight into one autistic experience.

My Review

Bold and Brave is another wonderful children’s book by K A Cummins. I love that it teaches some valuable lessons for all ages. I like that it shows how differences and experiences can bring all together. Just like the title, it is okay to be bold and brave.

I love that Bold and Brave is illustrated by the talented author, K A Cummins. The pictures are visually appealing and will make the youngest of readers to continue to follow the book. I thought they were a perfect addition to it.

I am giving Bold and Brave five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who are between the ages of three and eight. I believe it would be a great placement in public library shelves, as well as, those in a classroom. I would love to see what other stories K A Cummins has in store for the young readers.

I received a soft cover copy of K A Cummins’ Bold and Brave from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my ow honest opinion.

Blog Tour and Giveaway: Super Doople by K A Cummins

About the Book

Book:
Super Doople

Author: K.A. Cummins

Genre: Picture Book

Release date: May 4, 2023

You’ve heard the legend of Humpty Dumpty, but do you know the legend of Super Doople? He’s faster than a chicken. He flies higher than an ostrich. No fall can break his shell! And he was once Little Doople, a small and fragile egg like all the other dooples, until his bad habit of not listening caught up to him.

Engaging text with expressive illustrations, Super Doople is a lighthearted tale about resilience and learning to listen. This funny picture book for ages 3-8 is perfect for reading aloud in the classroom or at home.

More from K.A. Cummins

“Super Doople” started with a comic sketch and the idea of what if a scientist put Humpty Dumpty back together again? At first, it was more for fun and to explore creating comics. In fact, in the first version, he bounced like a ball when he hit the ground.

But the idea stuck! I continued to gravitate back to it, enjoying the exploration of telling a story with words and drawings. Many sketches and several versions later, the character became Little Doople, a hopeful and determined boy with a dream of flying who, through a series of events, transforms into Super Doople.

It’s been so much fun working with Little Doople, especially having our youngest son engaged with the story. Our youngest is sixteen now and has a talented eye for design. He’s one of the first people I ask for art critiques (the other being my husband). He even helped me come up with the name doople, for both the character and the egg-people in the story. We brainstormed in the car on a two-hour drive home.

The joy of creating this story, and from the story itself, has become its own source of inspiration. I haven’t stopped brainstorming more story ideas for Little Doople. I’ve even started plotting some of them, but those are under wraps for now.

However, being a homeschool mom and former educator in other forms, I wanted to share a free educational resource to go along with “Super Doople.” So I’ve put together a few science egg-periments, activities, and coloring pages suitable for younger children that’s available for FREE on my TpT store: https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Doople-Science-Hands-on-Learning-Activities-9145443.

Hope you and your children enjoy reading “Super Doople.”

My Review

Super Doople is a cute little children’s picture book by K A Cummins. It has some sweet lessons for young ones to learn and even the bigger adult kids could learn, too. My young children really enjoyed it, as I did, as well.

Super Doople, also, shows that the author, K A Cummins is also a talented artist. The pictures perfectly follow the story and help the younger readers to hold their attention. I thought they were a wonderful addition to the book.

I am giving Super Doople five stars. I highly recommend it for readers who are between the ages of three and seven. I would love to read more delightful children’s books from K A Cummins in the future.

I received a soft cover copy of Super Doople from the publisher but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
