Blog Tour and Giveaway: Race Against Time by Claire Eckard

Book Details:

Book Title:  Race Against Time by Claire Eckard
Category:  Adult Non-Fiction (18+),  192 pages
GenreCreative Non-Fiction
Publisher:  Cedar Fort Press
Release date:  Jan 10, 2023
Content Rating: G for all readers

Book Description:

Flash was a pony that had fallen between the cracks-too small for most to ride, even for a Hackney pony, and too feral to be shown. What he needed was a person as small as he was-who had the guts and the patience to give a wild pony a chance. Then along came a little girl with a sensitive soul and a big heart.

Kyla Law was just nine years old when she met Flash, and neither of them could have anticipated that their partnership would make history.

In an inspiring true story of family, faith, and perseverance, Kyla and Flash's relationship mirrors the journey we must all take in life: one of highs and lows, successes and failures-theirs just happens to be along a hundred-mile historic trail in the Sierra Nevada mountains-the setting for the most famous endurance race in the world. From the moment they met, to the moment they crossed the finish line, their tenacity exhibits pure spirit: the human spirit, the Holy Spirit, and the fire-in-the-soul kind of spirit that helps us climb mountains and cross rivers, literally and figuratively.

This story is about a girl and her pony, and how in one amazing day they inspired an international community, as Flash became the smallest horse to ever finish the Western States One-Hundred-Mile, One-Day Ride-the Tevis Cup.

RACE AGAINST TIME Book Tour Giveaway

My Review

I have had the pleasure of reading previous books written by the talented Claire Eckard. It was great to have the opportunity to get my hands on her newest release, Race Against Time: A Girl, a Pony & the Toughest 100 Mile Race in the World. I thought it was a wonderful book to read. It was full of adventure that made me captivated with Flash and Kyla’s tale. I adored their friendship and trust between the two. It was beautiful to see how human and pony were able to such a perfect team and good role models. The plot is full of inspiration that would be a wonderful influence on the younger readers. I was honored to take this journey along each page. I had no problem reading the whole book in one sitting. It was time well spent on a cool and rainy day.

I am giving Race Against Time: A Girl, a Pony & the Toughest 100 Mile Race in the World five stars. Readers, fans and lovers of horses and equestrian sports, between the ages of nine and fourteen years old, will definitely not want to miss out on reading this one. Once again, I will be looking for more by Claire Eckard in the future.

My Review:

Bentley's Best Birthday Ever! is yet another wonderful and sweet story by Claire Eckard. It is about an excessively giant of a dog named Bentley, who is celebrating his birthday. While he thinks his friends has disappeared on his big, they are actually secretly planning a surprise party for him. It was a fun adventure following the characters around and eagerly waiting for the big reveal. His friends were so cute making sure everything so special for their huge friend. It really warmed my heart reading the lengths they took for Bentley’s big day.

Bentley's Best Birthday Ever! is illustrated by the talented artist, Anne York. The pictures are colorful and vivid. They perfectly follow story and help bring the characters to life. They help the story flow and make it easy for younger readers stay focused on the  story. I loved seeing Bentley and his friends brought to life.

Bentley's Best Birthday Ever! is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who are between the ages of four and eight. It would be a great addition to a classroom’s reading shelf, as well as, the local library. As always, I look forward to see where else Claire Eckard will take my young ones to next in her upcoming releases.

I received a soft cover copy of Bentley's Best Birthday Ever! from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

GALLANT: CALL OF THE TRAIL Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

Gallant: The Call of The Trail is another great book I have read by Claire Eckard. Even though, this book is written for younger readers, I really enjoyed it. I thought the author’s writing style to be a little  unique and easy to read.  I adored the relationship between Gallant and Gracie. They have such a sweet and trusting bond. It was heartwarming to their unconditional love. I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen between this perfect team. It had in tears at times and smiling at others. It was so easy to keep turning the pages to find out what the author had in store for each chapter. What wonderful tale to read between a girl and her beautiful horse.

I loved the drawings that are sprinkled in throughout Gallant: The Call of The Trail by the talented Phylicia Mann. I thought they were a great way to visualize the story and enjoyed seeing them on the pages. I found the illustrations to be a great addition to the story.

I am giving Gallant: The Call of The Trail very well deserved five plus stars. I recommend it for readers who are between the ages of twelve and up. I will definitely be keeping my eye for more books like this one by Claire Eckard in the future. I can not wait to gift my copy to my horse loving twelve year old daughter and find out what she thinks after she reads it. To me, it is most definitely worth read and not to be missed.

I received a paperback copy of Gallant: The Call of The Trail from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
