Living with cerebral palsy is enormously difficult. But what if you never knew you had it? This is the incredible story of Ilana Estelle.

Born the second of premature twins, from a young age Ilana knew she was different, but for all the wrong reasons. A child of the 60s, Ilana experienced first-hand the way that disability was so often brushed under the carpet and not spoken about. Her constant physical and mental struggles made her feel isolated, alone, frustrated, and misunderstood… it took 46 years for her to find out why.

Part memoir, part motivational guide, Cerebral Palsy: A Story is Ilana’s open and honest journey from an angry, confused child, knowing something was wrong, but not knowing what, to the ‘real’ her – a courageous woman using her experiences and lessons to create inspiring messages about mental and physical health, positivity, resilience and change.

My Review:

Cerebral Palsy: A Story: Finding the Calm After the Storm is a beautiful true story by Ilana Estelle. She was born with cerebral palsy but was not aware of this diagnosis until the forty six years of age. Throughout her life, she knew she was different and experienced challenges with her physical and mental health. She grew up in the nineteen sixties and having a disability was not talked about or acknowledged. She tells about what she went through as a confused and angry child to finally learning about her diagnosis. As I read about what she went through and how she dealt with, I admired her courage to tell her story. I learned so much from her and found she was teaching a lesson to her readers. I found that her bravery and determination was motivating to me. She is such a beautiful human being and I believe all readers would learn so much from her.

I am giving Cerebral Palsy: A Story: Finding the Calm After the Storm a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading memoirs or biographies on those who have been able overcome disabilities. I would love to read more about Ilana Estelle. She is such an inspirational and special person to learn from.

I received a copy of Cerebral Palsy: A Story: Finding the Calm After the Storm from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

My Review:

I had the pleasure of reading Ilana Estelle’s Cerebral Palsy: A Story: Finding the Calm After the Storm and was excited to read her newest release, Spirituality, Healing and Me: How living a spiritual life offers hope and healing in the modern world. It is broken down into six chapters that gives advice, tips and a new outlook of spirituality. These chapters include:
What is Spirituality?
Spirituality as a Belief System
Nurturing a Spiritual Life
Healing and Spirituality
Spirituality: A Way of Life
Through the Healing Process
I love reading Miss Estelle’s work. She really has the talent of inspiring so many with her words. She is such a beautiful human being and I believe all readers would learn so much from her. I was about to discover so much about what is important and finding myself.

I am giving Spirituality, Healing and Me: How living a spiritual life offers hope and healing in the modern world a very well deserved five plus stars. I recommend it for reading who enjoy reading about others who have overcome challenges and trauma in life and looking for inspiration in their own. I will be looking for more by Ilana Estelle in the future. This one should not be missed.

I received a paperback copy of Spirituality, Healing and Me: How living a spiritual life offers hope and healing in the modern world from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

What does literary success mean to you?

Of course, literary success will mean different things for different people.

My measure of success is having the gift of being able write, and to know that people read and benefit from my work. That really is a huge boost to my confidence, as a writer and a tick in my personal success box.

All writers need to sell their work as that helps pay some of the bills. Having gone through my experiences, it was important to me that I was able to understand my life with a disability I didn’t know I had, and writing has given me that. Because I now help others it is important for me to get my writing ‘out there’.

For me, monetary success is not the overriding consideration, the quality of what I produce is important as is knowing that others are able to relate to what I write, that my writing is thought provoking and that can lead to positive change for others.

So, for me being able to write is literary success, having come into writing late. Success is being able to see my words in print, and for me to be able to shape my writing in the way I would want others to read it.
