Blog Tour and Giveaway: After Our Castle by Kellyn Roth

About the Book

Book:
After Our Castle

Author: Kellyn Roth

Genre: Historical Women’s Fiction

Release date: October, 2022

A year into a blissfully happy marriage, Violet Angel admits to a dose of skepticism. She’s not married, granted—but as the closest friend of the bride and groom, she feels she has a perspective no one but the people directly involved could have. There’s no such thing as a happy ending, and it’s only a matter of time before the castle in the sky plummets to earth.

If only Violet were always wrong instead of just mostly wrong. Ivy McAllen doesn’t believe she and her new husband are out of the honeymoon period—if they are, she isn’t going to admit it to herself—but there are certainly areas of adjustment that she hadn’t expected.

Changes at the village of Keefmore and in Ivy’s life lead to complications, and Violet spirals further and further from reality. When a castle in the sky turns to be more cloud than stronghold, finding a foothold proves to be more than a little difficult.

More from Kellyn

After Our Castle was a book I didn’t think I would ever write. Oh, I considered writing a short story or two about the early years of Ivy and Jordy’s marriage, yes, but it wasn’t until last year that I decided that I would write a full-length novel.

Why did I hesitate? I’m writing a family saga, after all, and I plan on covering every stage of my characters’ lives in the 10+ books I’m planning (this being book 6). Well, I didn’t think there was anything to be discussed about Ivy and Jordy’s early married days, as there was with my other book couple, Alice and Peter. Nothing interesting, I thought, happens until 1890, eight years into their union. So why write about anything before then?

Then I realized just how much backstory I was packing into that book. And I realized that, for my writing style, there are so many little things that can add up into a book. And that became the story that is After Our Castle.

The novel wasn’t an easy one to write. It required a lot of subtlety and doesn’t precisely have the most perfect ending. But I knew, if I wanted to set up book 8, I would have to write the novel this way.

So here we go. Another book I wasn’t sure about–but that careful writing and even more careful editing, along with a lot of prayer, have turned into a story I’m actually rather proud of.

I hope you enjoy After Our Castle!

My Review

I have enjoyed the previous books from Kellyn Roth’s The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series and was excited to have the opportunity to read the latest addition, After Our Castle. It is becoming apparent that her writing just keeps better and better with every new release. I adored this story so much and loved catching up with Ivy once again. I thought it was such a sweet, delightful and fantastic read. One that I could not put down until I had it read in one sitting.

I am giving After Our Castle five plus stars. Readers who enjoy reading clean historical fiction would enjoy this one, as well. I am curious to see what other plans Kellyn Roth has in store for her characters in the future.

I received a copy of After Our Castle from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

More from Kellyn

Hello everyone!

First, I wanted to thank you all for checking out this blog tour! In this fast-paced world, the fact that you took a moment out of your day to read this is actually a pretty big honor. I appreciate you checking out my little book and taking the time to read my introduction.

Souls Astray was the book I wrote when my granddad died. We were very close, and at the time he died, I was a lonely teenager, recently graduated from high school and unsure of my next step. I was heartbroken by his death – it felt like the nail in the coffin of my family, and it felt a little like he was the last person who believed in me.

This wasn’t true, but my, did it feel my dramatic self with lots of thoughts! I poured those into the book, writing it all in about three weeks, and then I spent the next few years revising it.

This book (and the other novels in its series) are of a different tone than my usual books. Even though I delve into difficult topics in all my stories – such as grief and loss, miscarriage, assault, serious mental health issues – this story somehow ended up with a tone I don’t think I could replicate if I tried.

This was the story I wrote out of my own grief and desperation, my own feeling that my world was falling apart. It’s like sharing a piece of my own heart to share it. Though Adele and Troy had very different journeys than mine, which is pretty peachy compared to their lives, I still relate to them.

This was also the first book I didn’t dedicate to a real person – the dedication ended up being inspired by a song, actually, which was comforting to me during this time: God Only Knows by For King & Country. “For the lonely, for the ashamed, the misunderstood, and the ones to blame. What if we could start over?”

Thank you again for your time!

Kellyn Roth

My Review

Souls Astray is a great beginning from Kellyn Roth’s series, Kees and Colliers. I have adored Kellyn’s previous books and this one does not disappoint.  I enjoyed getting to know Troy and Adele. I thought they were relatable and true to life characters. At times, their story toyed with my emotions, making me wanting to grab a box tissues. It was a great story to read that kept me intrigued from start to finish. I loved every single page.

Souls Astray will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romance. I look forward to the second installment from Kellyn Roth’s Kees and Colliers series, The Lady of the Vineyard.

I received a digital copy of Souls Astray from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

BEYOND HER CALLING (Chronicles of Alice and Ivy) Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

After reading the first three books from Kellyn Roth’s series, The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy, I have quickly been drawn to her writing. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters from this series and continuing to see them grow and learn in each book. They have become like family to me. I was excited to have the opportunity to read the fourth installment, Beyond Her Calling. I was far from being disappointed. I believe this one is my favorite of the series so far. It was a delight to take this journey with Ivy again. It was a joy to catching with her and seeing where she is now. I loved her interactions with Jordy when they meet. I thought they had great chemistry and was hoping all would turn out for them. I had to keep reading to find out it would all end between the two. I loved every single page.

I am giving Beyond Her Calling a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romantic fiction. I am looking forward to the fifth installment from The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series, A Prayer Unanswered, to see what happens next with these characters. I am curious to find out what Kellyn Roth has in store for them.

I received a paperback copy of Beyond Her Calling from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

BEYOND HER CALLING (Chronicles of Alice and Ivy) Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

I had the pleasure of reading and adored the first two books from The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series by Kellyn Roth, The Dressmaker's Secret and Ivy Intropective, and was excited to have the opportunity to read book three, At Her Fingertips. Since it is part of a series, I believe it would be best to start it with the beginning. I was happy to journey with Alice Knight to London during her first social season. I loved seeing this more mature and grown Alice. I thought it was a charming tale to read. It was fun and entertaining with the suitors she was presented. Some made me just down right cringe while others were a delight. I had to keep reading to find out what happens with Alice and how it would all end with her. It was a wonderful way to spend a cold, snowy day next to the fireplace. I read the whole book in one sitting. I loved it.

I am giving At Her Fingertips five stars. I recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romantic fiction. I am looking forward to the fourth installment from The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy series, Beyond Her Calling, to see what happens next with these characters. I am curious to find out what Kellyn Roth has in store for them.

I received a digital copy of At Her Fingertips from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
