10 Things You Didn’t Know About Monsterland/Monsterland Reanimated

By Michael Okon
10. I came up with idea of Monsterland while watching an 80s & 90s movie marathon one weekend with my son.
9. I called my brother immediately and told him I want to write a story about a theme park with zombies. He told me no, the theme park has to have werewolves, vampires AND zombies. I started beating out the story that night.
8. It took me a little over three weeks to complete Monsterland.
7. I self-published Monsterland in 2015 and it became a best-seller on Amazon.
6. Within two years of self-publishing, I got a literary agent, an entertainment attorney, a film agent, a publicist, a two-book publishing deal, and film interest from a well-known producer.
5. Monsterland went from being an indie book in 2015 to the number one pre-ordered book in Teen & Young Adult Zombie Fiction on Amazon in 2017.
4. My brother designed the cover with an artist.
3. There are two massive twists at the end of the book that most readers never see coming.
2. Monsterland 2 is completed and comes out May 26, 2018.
1. I have eight Monsterland books planned.

My Review

I really enjoyed the first installment from Michael Okon’s Monsterland series, also, called Monsterland. So, I was excited to get my hands on the following up to it, Monsterland Reanimated. I highly recommend for readers to begin the series from the beginning so they can get a better grasp with what is going on. I do not think it would work well as a stand alone.

Monsterland Renanimated continues with high school Wyatt Baldwin trying to save the world from the monsters. I once again had to strap myself down to enjoy this wild thrill of a tale. It is action packed with a few twists and turns I did not expect or did not see coming. This time around he encounters more than he thought possible. He goes on quite the adventure to try to find help and his journey brings on more horror. Behemoths and The Glob are the last things he wanted to deal with right now. After reading the first book, I learned the author’s writing style and was able to read this one in just a few hours. I thought it was better and more entertaining, if that is possible.

Monsterland Reanimated is getting five plus stars from me. I was excited to find out that there will be a third addition to the Monsterland series. I look forward to when that one releases to see what will happen next. I recommend this one for readers who enjoy science fiction and stories that involve fictional monsters.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

My Review

Monsterland begins the series, also, called Monsterland by Michael Okon. To be honest, I was not sure if I was going to like this book or not. I did not think it would really be a story for me. Well, that quickly changed when I was about a quarter of the way through listening to the audio version of this book. This book is full of action, adventure and entertainment. Even though there is a lot of horror and frightening events, I could not help but to laugh out loud at some of the scenes. I just felt like I was on a thrilling ride throughout the book. I had no problem taking the day to listen to the whole book. My work suffered but it was so very worth it. I did not want to press pause to stop listening. I had to continually hear what was going to happen in the following scenes. Scott Brick’s performance was superb. I think he did a fantastic job brining this story to life and just the way the author intended. I hope he narrates the other books in the series.

I am giving Monsterland a very well deserved five plus stars. I can not wait to read Monsterland Renanimated to see what is going to happen next in this series. I recommend this one for readers who enjoy horror / fantasy / science fiction that is action packed and fast paced.

Great job, Mr Okon, for writing a fun and entertaining read.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Blurb Blitz and Giveaway: Witches Protection Program by Michael Okon

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Michael Okon will be awarding a $50 Amazon Gift Card, then 5 signed copies of the book (US ONLY) to randomly drawn winners via rafflecopter during the tour. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Wes Rockville, a disgraced law-enforcement agent, gets one last chance to prove himself and save his career when he’s reassigned to a 232-year-old secret government organization.

The Witches Protection Program.

His first assignment: uncover a billion-dollar cosmetics company’s diabolical plan to use witchcraft for global domination, while protecting its heiress Morgan Pendragon from her aunt’s evil deeds. Reluctantly paired with veteran witch protector, Alastair Verne, Wes must learn to believe in witches…and believe in himself.

Filled with adventure and suspense, Michael Okon creates a rousing, tongue-in-cheek alternate reality where witches cast spells and wreak havoc in modern-day New York City.

“I said, come on,” Alastair urged the younger man.

“I want to go to a hospital.” They stood in the smelly hallway, Wes’s bloody foot leaving a trail of red footprints.

Alastair shook his head. “What are you afraid of? Witches are synonymous with healers. Baby Fat’s practically a surgeon.”

“What do you mean, practically?” Wes roared. “I’m not going in.” He limped after Alastair, who stood firm.

“Shape-shifting witches sometimes release slow-acting hormones that can enter the bloodstream and wreak havoc on a person’s nervous system. It starts with an elevated temperature.”

Wes felt sweat drip from his temple down his warm neck.

His body shook with a tremor.

“You’re looking a little flushed there.” Alastair reached up to press his cool hand against Wes’s overheated cheek. He tsked. Wes pulled away. “Listen, conventional medicine doesn’t have a clue …”

“All right, already,” Wes said, giving in. He felt lightheaded. “I don’t know if I trust her.”

“Do you trust me?” Alastair asked, his eyes boring into Wes’s. The younger man looked away.

He was still protesting after Baby Fat had placed his foot on a dishtowel on her lime velvet couch. She ignored his complaints as she poked around the hole oozing blood, which she collected into a porcelain cup. “For later,” she advised Alastair, who nodded sagely. “Nothing like fresh blood.”
