VBT and Giveaway: You Can Do Anything by Danni Maynard

You Can Do Anything

by Danni Maynard

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Children's
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

The most inspiring people in the world started with a dream that a lot of other people thought wasn't possible. By setting their minds to something and working hard, they proved that their dream was achievable. Dream big and be what you want to be.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Last night I had a dream of all the things I could be: a pilot, a lawyer, and a captain at sea.
In my dream was my brother, he was there too. He was a dancer, a nurse and a vet at the zoo.
My mum told me, when Great-Grandma was small, boys only did boys things and girls couldn’t at all.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Danni Maynard grew up dreaming big and wanting to break the stereotype of what women were 'meant' to be. She is a lecturer in aviation, a pilot and is working towards her doctorate in, you guessed it, aviation. Danni is still dreaming and has turned her attention to encouraging young minds of today to dream along with her. She is a strong believer in supporting kids to pursue their passions no matter what the world tells them they can or cannot do.
She brings this passion to her daily life as a mother of three amazing children who are constantly reminded that they are allowed to imagine a life that encompasses fantasies, aspirations and ambitions. This attitude to life was shaped by her mum, who is a powerful and supportive role model in Danni's life and sculpted her to be an independent and strong-minded thinker. Danni also dedicates time to Women in Aviation – Australian Chapter to educate and inspire young girls about the fascinating industry that is aviation and the opportunities it presents to women.
My Review
I thought You Can Do Anything was a cute little book. It tells about a sweet little girl dreaming to be whatever she chooses in life. What an inspiring little read. I love how each page are in rhyming form.
I enjoyed the beautiful illustrations that is included in You Can Do Anything. They perfectly go along with the pages and help bring the story to life. I thought they were great way to help grab the attention for the younger readers.
I am giving You Can Do Anything a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for young girls everywhere between the ages of four and nine.
I received a digital copy of You Can Do Anything from the publisher, but was not required to write a positive review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
NBTM Virtual Tour and Giveaway: A Wizard's Choice by Maya Tyler
A Wizard's Choice
by Maya Tyler
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Paranormal romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Dreams or duty?
Wizard apprentice Kurtis Warde doesn’t want to become a full-fledged wizard, but he feels obligated to his grandfather who raised him. Making The Choice, whether or not to become a wizard and join The Circle, doesn’t feel like a choice at all. Leaving The Circle would give Kurtis the freedom to follow his own dreams, and to pursue vampiress, Dee, who has always intrigued him. He knows there’s more to Dee than the icy being she portrays, but will she give him a chance to know the real her?
There is unrest in the magical world. Fairies, a magical being thought to be long extinct, still exist. And the long-time feud between wizards and fairies threatens everyone Kurtis cares about, including his life coach, Alina, who has quickly become a close friend. And perhaps more. He discovers his connection to the ancient beings The Annunaki, the ancestors of wizards and fairies, may be key to the future. The more he uncovers, the more questions he has.
Will Kurtis choose to follow his heart or risk sacrificing his own happiness for peace in the magical world?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT

“Waldor.” Emotion—relief and love—flooded Kurtis’ voice. He released the breath he’d unconsciously held, scanning Waldor for obvious injury.

“I’m in one piece, Kurtis.” Waldor pushed past him to unlock the cottage. “You can quit being a fusspot.”

Kurtis chuckled at Waldor’s mock irritation, unfazed by his grandfather’s gruff ways. They didn’t need to exchange words to know how relieved they both were for the other’s safety.

Waldor filled the kettle and, a moment later, the sound of a cheery whistle blasted from the small kitchen. Kurtis joined Waldor at the table. They sat in silence, wrapping their large hands around mugs of steaming tea.

“The kind of potent brew you need after a night like this to settle your thoughts.”

Kurtis grunted in response.

“What’s on your mind, my boy?”

What do I tell Waldor? Conflicted thoughts swirled around in his brain. Am I really that transparent?

Waldor smiled as if he knew all Kurtis’ secrets. “I know you. I raised you from a little baby.”

“I know.” He scowled, guilt gnawing at the lining in his stomach. How can I tell him? How can I break his heart? Like my father.

Waldor took his time to sip his tea as if waiting for Kurtis to open up.

Will I ever have the courage to leave? He cast a mournful eye around the small cottage, the only home he’d ever known. “Where is my father? Do you know?”

Waldor recoiled, looking like he’d been punched in the gut. “I don’t know.”

What do you know? What are you keeping from me? Kurtis paused before asking his next question, torn between his aversion to causing Waldor pain and desire for finding answers. “Do you know…Who is my mother?”

Something akin to fear, shame perhaps, lurked in Waldor’s eyes. He focused his intense gaze on Kurtis. “Yes.”

My Review

A Wizard's Choice is the second installment from The Magicals series and my first introduction to Maya Tyler. I enjoyed this fun tale. I was entertained by Kurtis’ story throughout. I thought the plot was intriguing and writing style different, which I found to be quite refreshing.

I am giving A Wizard’s Choice four and stars. I would love to go back and read the previous book of the The Magicals series to find out what had happened previously.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
