My Review

I have adored the first two books from The Stratton Legacy series. I was eagerly awaiting to get my hands on third installment, Legacy of Hope, and seeing what Renae Brumbaugh Green had in store for her readers. I was not disappointed and believe this one is my favorite of the series. I loved getting to know Lisa and Jackson. I was captivated with their story and had to keep reading until I was completely finished in one sitting. It was full of adventure, love, history, and intrigue. Loved it.

I give Legacy of Hope five stars. I highly recommend for fans of clean historical romance. I am looking forward to more from Renae Brumbaugh Green in the near future.

All my life, since I can remember, I’ve been told I’m part Native American. My great-great grandmother on my mother’s side, they said, was full-blooded Comanche. So even though I am blonde and fair (I have glow-in-the-dark skin) I believed them. I told people, and laughed at their sideways looks. I was proud of my heritage.

Then I took one of those Ancestry DNA tests. Nope. Not one drop of Native American in me. According to the test, I’m English, Scottish, Irish, and Swedish. And yes, I am the biological child of my father (very blonde and fair) and my mother (brunette, with high cheekbones). So I guess it’s just the way the genetic dominoes fell. When I got my mom’s half, I apparently didn’t get the Native American part.

I’m not sure how the science of DNA works, but I will tell you I feel extremely connected to Skye, the heroine of Legacy of Love. She’s a perfectionist. I’m a perfectionist. She thinks she has to perform to be accepted. I do, too. Though she’s always been loved, she struggles to fit in, to feel like she’s really a part of things. Ditto.

Skye’s journey is both difficult and beautiful. It helps that there’s a dreamy beaux (or three!) along the way. But in all the hardship and heartache, she finds herself. And she finds that she’s enough, exactly as she is. Most importantly, she finds a relationship with the One who created her and loved her before time began.

I hope you enjoy Skye’s journey in book two of The Stratton Legacy series. If you haven’t read book one, I encourage you to do so—you’ll meet Skye as a child. More than anything, I hope you’ll glean some beautiful truths along the way.

My Review

Legacy of Love is the second installment from Renae Brumbaugh Green’s series, The Stratton Legacy. I really enjoyed the first book, Legacy of Honor, and enjoyed this one even more. I adored Skye and Alan’s story. I loved Skye and my heart broke for her as she is faced with discrimination but admired her courage, determination and bravery. I found this to be a beautiful story of reminded of some valuable life lessons: the power of forgiveness, how to overcome the past, and learning to discover yourself. 

I am giving Legacy of Love a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean Historical Romance. I look forward for the next release from The Stratton Legacy series to see what happens next.

Lassoed by the Lawman is the third and final book in the Texas Rangers Series, and I honestly think it’s my favorite book of the series. The main characters, Juliana and Cody, are loosely based on me and my husband, Rick. We’re both creatives, we both love music, and we both try to balance our love for creativity with our need to actually make a living! Our shared love of music initially drew us to each other.

Like Cody, Rick is rugged and masculine, and he melted my heart the first time I heard him sing. As a matter of fact, during our courtship, we often wrote songs together. One of the songs Cody sings to Juliana in the book is actually a song Rick wrote for me. (Sigh.)

The attraction Cody and Juliana feel for each other is both white-hot and pure… the kind of passion God wants husbands and wives to experience. It’s the kind of passion Christ has for us, his bride. As I worked on these pages, I giggled at times, blushed at times, and grinned with mischief always.

Through hardship and heartache, Juliana and Cody find joy. And through hardship and heartache, God wants us to find joy, too…the joy of an abundant life in Christ. My Review

Lassoed by the Lawman is the third installment from Renae Brumbaugh Green’s series, The Texas Ranger. Even though it is part of a series, I believe it can be read as a stand alone. Like the previous two books, this one is a great read. It is probably my favorite of the three. I loved getting to know Juliana. I adored this character. It was wonderful watching her grow throughout the story. Especially when she meets Cody. I was entertained with those two from the start and had no problem reading their story in one sitting. I just had to know how it would all end. 

Lassoed by the Lawman will be getting a well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading clean historical romance.

I’ve been writing this book for more than a decade!

In 2008, my dear friend and writing mentor, Chip Ricks, shared a book idea with me. Loosely based on her own family history, she wanted to write a story about two brothers—one who chose to live for Christ, the other who didn’t. She wanted to follow that family through the generations, to show the impact of that one choice, on the people who came behind.

She just had one problem. Chip was a brilliant writer, but she wasn’t a fiction writer. “Will you help me write this book?”

Now, Chip was in her 80s at the time. She was a mother, a grandmother, to me in the faith. If she’d asked me to paint the moon pink, I’d have given it my best shot. For several years, Chip and I worked together on several versions of the book. We only ever got through the first few chapters, and we’d change our minds about the characters or the situations. Finally, one day she smiled at me. She said, “You know, Renae. This is your book. I know I whispered the idea to you, but I always wanted you to be the one to write it. I’m getting too old to work on this . . . please take it. It’s your story.”

Soon after, she moved across the country to live with her daughter. We stayed connected via phone calls and Facebook, until eventually, she stopped responding. We lost touch. I continued to write the book—Chip’s book. Now my book. I’d work on it a while, then put it away for several months, even a few years at one point. In 2017, I finished what would become the first final draft. I fiddled with it more, here and there, but I hung onto it until I met Misty Beller, my publisher at Wild Heart.

I submitted the book to her, and she accepted it, right away! Then the editor got hold of it. God bless Erin Taylor Young! She was brutal, in the best possible way. I spent weeks (months?) making the suggested changes, and each one made the book so much better. The day I turned in those final edits to my publisher, I opened up Facebook. There, on Chip’s FB page, was a note to all her friends.

I sat there, frozen, looking at my screen, big fat tears tracking my cheeks. How was it possible that on the day the book was complete, I learned of her death? She was so instrumental in my walk of faith, and in my path as a writer. It was almost like the Holy Spirit wanted me to know . . . this particular journey was now complete.

I hope you enjoy this book, book one in a trilogy, for it is very close to my heart. And I hope you learn from the actions of two brothers, so many years ago, that our choices have an impact on our own lives, and on the lives of those who follow us.

My Review

I have read and enjoyed Renae Brumbaugh Green books in the past. I was excited to have the opportunity to read Legacy of Honor. I was not disappointed. It is probably my favorite I have read by her to date. Emma is one of those characters that made instantly adore from page one. I felt connected to her and understood her struggles. I loved it when she met Riley. They had great chemistry together. I had to find out how it would end for the two. It was somewhat predictable, but still oh so good to read. 

Legacy of Honor will be getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I can not wait to find out what happens next from The Stratton Legacy series. I highly recommend this one for readers who enjoy clean Historical Romance.

I’ve been a fan of historical romance from the moment I graduated from The Babysitter’s Club. A friend of mind introduced me to the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke, and I was hooked. In college, between exams and extracurricular stuff, I read those books like they were M&Ms. That’s why, when I started writing grown-up fiction, I knew historical was my genre. But there’s another reason—perhaps a more compelling reason—why I had to write The Texas Rangers series. See, my granddaddy was a Texas Ranger. Not the baseball player kind. The gun-toting, cowboy-hat-and-badge-wearing kind. As far as I know, he was not a master of any kinds of martial arts, so if you’re a fan of Walker, Texas Ranger, I’m sorry to disappoint. And he was not alive during the late 1800s, as are the characters are in this series. Grandaddy died in 1980 when I was 12 years old. He was a good man, known for rescuing puppies and bringing small gifts and toys to children in stressful situations—i.e. when their parents were arrested. My favorite memory of him is sitting on his lap, falling asleep to the sound of his big, round pocket watch ticking. I have a picture of myself, age three, sitting on his knee while he typed up his reports. I love that typewriter picture, and find it significant since I’m now a writer. Grandaddy was Robert Everett Smith, and Grandmother (yes, I called her that—she was very formal, but also very sweet) was Ellie Marie (Edgar) Smith. The two lead characters in Lone Star Ranger are named Rett (Everett) and Elizabeth, in their honor. Like Grandmother, Elizabeth is refined and formal, yet strong headed, with her own lady-like brand of spunk. She hails from Boston, and is a little overwhelmed at the grit and gravel of Texas lawmen. But she’s not intimidated—not even by handsome Texas Ranger Rett Smith. Thanks so much for sharing in my cherished family memories. Review

Lone Star Ranger is the first book from The Texas Ranger series and the first book I have read written by author Renae Brumbaugh Green. Oh my goodness! This quick read not only has a gorgeous cover it was full of fun. It has a lot I love in a story: history, a little mystery, adventure, action, humor and romance. Elizabeth is one determined woman that could not predict what she would do next. I enjoyed the scenes with her interacting with Rett. This is when some of the humor shines through. I was quite entertained with the whole book from start to finish.

I am giving Lone Star Ranger a very welled deserved five plus stars. I can not wait to read the second installment from The Texas Ranger series, Ranger to the Rescue. I highly recommend this book for readers who enjoy sweet historical romance. I loved it.
