Some of the most powerful people in the world want to kill Michael Nicholas. Only his brother Alex can save him—the problem is that Alex is dead.

It’s been almost a year since Alex Nicholas, a Queens-based underworld boss, was gunned down. After Alex’s brutal murder, Michael inherited not only his brother’s business, but his enemies. Michael is now a key player in a world he once feared. By day, he is the head of a Fortune 500 company. By night, the CEO of Tartarus, one of the world’s largest illegal gambling operations.

Before his death, Alex invested heavily in breakthrough artificial intelligence software so that he could live forever. It worked. In his virtual form, Alex can communicate with Michael and monitor information—and people—in ways the NSA would envy.

It is Alex who discovers Michael’s life is in danger. He detects plots that reach from the darkest corners of Queens to the highest officials in the Vatican—and they all want Michael dead.

Michael is now in a race to save his life, but he is never alone. Alex is there to help him navigate through this maze of life and death. Also protecting Michael from the forces closing in around him is Sindy Steele, a beautiful and lethal bodyguard.

How far is Michael willing to go to save his own life and that of his family? Guided only by a familiar face on a computer screen, will the information Alex discovers allow Michael to go from being the hunted to the hunter?

My Review:

Death Logs In is the second installment from E J Simon's series, Michael Nicholas. The story continues with Michael Nicholas and his involvement in the investigation in the murder of his brother, Alex Nicholas. Michael is now a head of a major company, as well as, a CEO of Tartarus, an illegal gambling company. Alex is still communicating with Michael beyond the grave virtually. Only this time "virtual" Alex begins to set things in motion to save Michael's life, including from the bodyguard, Sindy Steele.

Like the first book of the Michael Nicholas series, Death Never Sleeps, I have conflicting feelings about how I feel about Death Logs In.  This time, I see a difference in Michael's personality. He is definitely showing signs of becoming his brother. I am not sure I like this new Michael or not. He is becoming more and more obsessed with Alex and his life. The change I saw in Samantha, Michael's wife, was probably even more of a surprise to me. They are both playing very dangerous and deadly game. They mystery and suspense gets more intense as everything unfolds. I just could not keep from being intrigued. I had to know what would happen next. The twists and turns are not at all predictable.

I am giving Death Logs In three and a half stars. This is one of the most uniquely written thrillers I have ever read. I am looking forward to what could possibly happen tin the next installment of the series, Death Logs Out.

I received this book from the author. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

EXCERPT

“Why are you here, Josh?” I couldn't hold back my curiosity any longer.

“What do you mean?”

He seemed completely caught off guard by my direct question, and I had to remind myself that he couldn’t see inside my head. I really didn’t know what I wanted to hear, but Edward’s words kept coming back to me. Maybe Josh only wanted to sleep with me, nothing else—although it seemed like a lot of trouble for only a night of pleasure.

“Do you really only care about getting into my pants?” I asked, bordering somewhere between a pleading glance and a glare.

Josh seemed to relax a bit before he answered me. “You know I do. But not in the way that moron phrased it. I don’t want you thinking about it like that.”

“You have no idea what I’m thinking,” I quipped.

“I don’t,” Josh said quietly. “I wish I had a clue.” Then he stepped closer to me and tilted his head. “And obviously you don’t know how I feel about you, either.”

“Then explain it to me.” I didn’t try to back away from him this time.

This time he looked at me with different eyes. I didn’t see myself broken in them anymore.

My Reviews

Laura's Wedding is the first book from KT Castle's series, The Bridesmaid's Checklist. What a delightful and fun story. Kassie is a great character that I absolutely loved getting to know. She is on of those characters that I feel as though she is a friend of mine. There are a few twists in the book that I did not expect, making me want to keep reading to see what would happen ext. I had it read in just a few hours - hours well spent.

I give Laura's Wedding five stars and I can to wait to continue the series with Marisol's Wedding.

I received this book from the author. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

Marisol's Wedding is book two of KT Castle's entertaining series The Bridesmaid's Checklist. Like the first book, Laura's Wedding, I thought this one to be a fun read. I enjoyed catching up with Kassandra and seeing what else life has thrown at her - past and present. This is one of those stories that I can relate to while having some good laughs.

I give Marisol's Wedding five stars. I hope there will be more in The Bridesmaid's Checklist series in the near future.

Excerpt Present day romance: The scent of turkey met her at Dom’s front door. For a moment, apprehension swept through her at the thought of helping in the kitchen. Then a handsome man stood before her, and she couldn’t wipe the foolish smile off her face. Instead of saying something stupid, she held out the wine. “In a holiday bag, no less,” Dom said, eyebrows raised. He stepped back to let her in, grabbed her hand, and spun her around to face him. “You look stunning.” “I just thought that the burlap would give it extra protection if I dropped it, and they only seemed to have holiday wine bags in stock and—” One finger covered her mouth. As his head slowly lowered, she could feel his breath on her face; heat raced through her core. By the time their lips touched, her legs had turned to jello; she clung to him for support. Gently pushing her toward the wall, he pressed his length against her and whispered, “I need to make you mine, legally, before I lose all control. You have no idea the affect you have on me, do you?” “I think that is the most romantic thing anyone has ever said to me,” she said breathless. “Kiss me like that again… please?” “I’d be happy to oblige if you tell me that isn’t my grandmother standing in the doorway watching us.” Katie looked over to see Antonia, a wide grin on her face, and quickly pushed on the hard chest that pinned her to the wall. She ran a hand through her hair as the blood rushed to her face. “Oh Nico, such good Italian blood in you. And not even any mistletoe out yet.” Antonia wiped her hands on her apron and waved to the young couple. “Come now, we have work to do before we play.” The two followed her in like reprimanded children who showed no remorse, holding hands and snickering. This is silly but it feels so good. Katie accepted the apron and as she pulled the straps behind her, strong hands covered hers. “Let me,” he whispered in her ear. “I’m good at tying knots.”
Excerpt WWII romance: The pilot with wheat-colored hair put his elbows on the counter and leaned toward her. “I could buy thirty loaves of bread at home for that much lettuce.” “But you are not home, soldier. You are here, in Benevento, and a sticky bun is 100 lire.” She meant to be rude but his soft brown gaze made her heart race as if she’d just chased Dante across the field. His smile went to his eyes, adding crinkles to the corners, and made her own lips turn up. “The cost of supplies is very expensive these days, as you know.” “So I’ve heard. Give me five,” he said with a wink. “Maybe I can sweet talk the captain into putting me back into a plane.” “Save your money, Ken. Your ears obviously ain’t got any better in the last ten minutes,” he answered, rubber-necking over the counter. “Get a load of that landing gear.” Dante growled again but this time showed sharp, white teeth. “I don’t think he likes you much, Bob.” “Well I don’t care for him, neither. Give me two of those, and we’ll get out of your hair.” The men paid for the rolls and walked outside. She headed into the kitchen when that quiet, deep voice stopped her. “I’d like to apologize for my friend. He’s not a bad Joe once you get to know him.” “I don’t think I care to,” she said without turning around. “It looks like I may be making regular trips through your town. Do you work here often?” His tone dripped like honey from a ladle and poured over her; she felt her body turn toward him even as her brain told her “no.” “My family owns it. I am here every day.” “So your father is Guido?” He had resumed his place at the counter, balanced on his elbows again, inviting her back without a word. She found herself leaning on the counter from the other side. “How do you know my father?” “The sign says Guido’s Café.” She laughed. “Yes, it does. So you are no private eye, eh?” He whistled then. “You’d make Betty Grable green with envy when you smile. It makes those blue eyes sparkle like a fresh-cut diamond. You should do that more often.” Her eyes lowered, embarrassed at the compliment and the image of the American pinup girl in a bathing suit. “You should go catch up with your friends.” “My name is Ken Lawrence,” he said and held out his hand. “Antonia Capriotti,” she replied and took his hand. A tingle shot down her center and curled her toes. “It is nice to meet you.”

Review:

A Secret to Die for is a great read. The plot is pretty fast paced that kept me fully engaged and wanting to find out what would happen next. I enjoyed Grace and Nate’s story. It took no time to have the whole book read in a few hours.

A Secret to Die for gets four stars from me. I recommend it for readers who love good mystery and suspense filled books, with an element of faith.

"You really think you're too good for anyone, don't you?" Sara's voice shook. "That you're some kind of celebrity because National Geographic made you their cover boy? Well let me tell you something, Jack. I don't need a world seal of approval to help me sleep at night. I don't need looks or money to buy me a circle of friends, and I don't need some beach bum telling me what I am." Looking embarrassed, Jack dropped her hands. In a low voice, he said, "If that's who you think I am than you can leave." "Thank you," Sara shouted, "I will!" She flung the door open on the way. The planner was still in the middle of the hallway, a few pages hanging out of it. She gave it a vicious kick, and it smacked into the wall. "That's what I think about you and your stupid foundation," she shouted over her shoulder. She kicked it again and again until pages scattered everywhere. He was still watching from his office door, looking like he wanted to shove a sock in her mouth. All around the office, people sidled into range to see more. Satisfied she'd humiliated him, she took the stairs to the ground floor. She wanted to be exhausted when she walked out of the place. She wanted to feel so tired, she would never have the energy to come back.
