The inspiration for my first Christmas book has been my 3 beautiful daughters Corryn, Kylie and McKenna. I have always loved the magic of Christmas and I wanted to amplify that to my girls. I wanted them to feel the magical power and imagination that brings Christmas alive. My kids were always inquisitive and when I encouraged curiosity on why we saw so many deer around our house, the concept of the reindeer doing check-in for Santa emerged. From that, it evolved to me writing letters to them from one of the deer that they saw in our yard. From there was born becoming pen pals with Santa reindeer. My kids started writing letters and drawing pictures and asking such inquisitive questions to their reindeer and I so enjoyed writing back to them that encouraged their creativity which blossomed into this beautiful Christmas tradition that I just wanted to share with the world.
This is just one of the many Christmas traditions that I hold close to my heart. Another meaningful tradition kicks off the Christmas season for my family. That us cutting down our own Christmas tree. This is quite an event that happens after Thanksgiving. Everyone must put on a Santa or elf hat. It is the mandatory uniform for going out and seeking out a tree. We go out to a tree farm where you get a steaming cup of hot chocolate and we take a wagon ride out into the Christmas tree farm they are we get our saws and we disperse out to find the perfect tree. I like the trees that are nice and round and tall and soft. I love a soft-looking Christmas tree. Once people start finding trees the great debate starts to happen on which is the best tree from what angle and after a copious amount of time we can finally agree there is a joint effort to cut down the Christmas tree. Everyone takes part in using the saw to cut down this tree, and everyone helps carry the tree back to get wrapped up and loaded onto the car!
Kids are amazing little humans, and that is why I also chose to donate a portion of the proceeds to Kids in Crisis. So many kids are facing adversity, and when kids are homeless they lack the physical, mental, medical, and educational support they need to thrive. Homelessness is not always visible. Kids try to hide it, and with that, their hardships are hidden and they lack the fundamental principles to thrive. I want all kids to have housing, medical, and therapeutic support to be kids, to live, dream, explore, learn, build relationships, and live in a safe loving world. I want to be part of the solution to making their lives better.
Thank you!
Michele Monaco
