My Review: 

The Night is Done is the third installment from Sheila Myers series, Durant Family Saga. I found it to be interesting that it was based on a true story. The author obviously did her research to bring to life. I was entertained from start to finish. 

I am giving The Night is Done four stars. I would love to read the other books from the Durant Family Saga to find out what had happened prior to this one. I will be looking for more by Sheila Myers in the future.

My Review

About an Earl is the second installment from the What Happens in the Ballroom series. It is, also, my first introduction to the writing of Diana Lloyd. I enjoyed this historical romance. I absolutely adored the characters of Jewel and Oliver. The story is a little predictable but still a delight to read.

I am giving About an Earl four stars. I would love to read more by Miss Lloyd in the future. Lovers of historical fiction and romance will definitely want to read this one. I am happy to have the opportunity to read it.

My Review:

Entertaining Mr Pepys is the third and sadly the final installment from Deborah Swift’s Women of Pepys’ Diary series. Since I have enjoyed the first two book of the series, I was looking forward for this book to release. I was not disappointed. It is probably my favorite of the three. Bird is a great character I loved getting to know. The author’s talent really shines through with her vivid historical details.

Entertaining Mr Pepys gets five stars from me. I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series for readers who love a compelling historical fiction.

My Review

Trailing the Hunter is a great read by Heidi Eljarbo. I loved Clara Dahl from the start. She is such a brave and courageous woman wanting to save others from being accused of witchcraft. I do not think I have read anything before set in seventeenth century Norway. It quite interesting and fascinating meeting the people of the area. It was full of suspense, action, twists and turns that I love in a book.

I am giving Trailing the Hunter four and a half stars. I highly recommend it. I loved it.

About the Author

Anne Richter was born in 1973 in Jena, in the former German Democratic Republic. Her degree in Romance languages and English included study periods in England, Italy and France. In 2011, Anne was nominated for the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, a highly regarded German-language literary award. Her debut novel, Distant Signs, was published in Germany in 2013. Anne is currently writing her second novel. Douglas Irving is Scottish. He studied German and Spanish at Aberdeen University. In 2014 he completed a Masters in Translation at Glasgow University. His first translation, Crossing: A Love Story by Anna Seghers was published in 2016 in the US to positive reviews. His translation of Anna Seghers’ last work published in her lifetime, Three Women from Haiti, is set to follow.

My Review: 

I thoroughly enjoyed Distant Signs. I thought this was a beautiful story. It was interesting getting a look at what life was like for those living in East Germany after World War II and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. I was intrigued with this important part of history. Miss Richter has written a compelling read that I could not put down. 

I give Distant Signs five plus stars. I believe this book is a must read for readers who love history.

My Review: 

This Son of York is a fabulous book. I love to read anything about the Plantagenet dynasty and Anne Easter Smith does not disappoint. This book tells the life story of King Richard III, the last of the Plantagenet kings. I like how he is portrayed in this book. He was such a fascinating man from England’s history. I was intrigued with his life until the end. 

I am giving This Son of York a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who love English History.

My Review: 

The second installment from the Clan Kendrick series, The Highlander's Christmas Bride, is the first book I have read by Vanesa Kelly. It will not be the last. I enjoyed this book.  I loved this Donella and Logan’s chemistry. I found the story to be fun, adventurous and delightful.

I am giving The Highlander’s Christmas Bride four and a half stars. I would love to read more by Vanessa Kelly, including the first book from the Clan Kendrick series.

My Review

I have read several books by Autumn Bardot and have enjoyed every one of them. Emperor’s Assassin is no different. I have not read anything in the past about Nero’s time, so I found this story to be intriguing and fascinating. Locusta is one historical figure I had never heard of before and I find myself wanting to know more about her. 

I am giving Emperor’s Assassin four stars. Historical fiction readers will not want to miss this one. I thought it was great.
