Review: To Dwell Among Cedars by Connilyn Cossette

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blurb:

Eight years ago, when the Philistines stole and then surrendered the ark of the covenant back to the Israelites, Eliora left her Philistine homeland to follow the ark to the community of Kiryat Yearim. There, the family she was adopted into has guarded the ark at the top of a mountain in seclusion.

Ronen is a Levite musician determined to secret away the ark to a more fitting resting place, watched over by priests who would restore the Holy of Holies. He never expected that the Philistine girl he rescued years ago would now be part of the very family he's tasked to deceive.

As Ronen's attempts to charm Eliora lead them in unexpected directions, betrayal leaves Eliora with strained family ties and Ronen questioning his own loyalties. Ultimately, Eliora and Ronen are caught up in the battle for the soul of Israel and its future under the leadership of Samuel, the last judge before the era of the kings begins.

My Review:

I was so excited to find out that Connilyn Cossette has a new series coming out at the end of this year. I was even more so when I had the opportunity to read the first book from The Covenant House series, To Dwell Among Cedars. I was not disappointed. I thought it was a great read. I loved the history and the author’s ability to vividly bring this story to life. I could not put it down and took no time to read. It is so very good.

I am giving To Dwell Among Cedars a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy Biblical fiction. I look forward to the next installment from The Covenant House series.

I received To Dwell Among Cedars from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.

Review: Until the Mountains Fall by Connilyn Cossette

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blurb:

Recently widowed, Rivkah refuses to submit to the Torah law compelling her to marry her husband's brother and instead flees Kedesh, hoping to use her talents as a scribe to support herself. Without the protections of her father, Kedesh's head priest, and the safety of the city of refuge, Rivkah soon discovers that the cost of recklessness is her own freedom.

Malakhi has secretly loved Rivkah for years, but he never imagined his older brother's death would mean wedding her himself. After her disappearance, he throws himself into the ongoing fight against the Canaanites instead of dwelling on all he has lost. But with impending war looming over Israel, Rivkah's father comes to Malakhi with an impossible request.
As the enemies that Rivkah and Malakhi face from without and within Israel grow more threatening each day, is it too late for the restoration their wounded souls seek?

My Review:

Until the Mountains Fall, book three from Connilyn Cossette's series, Cities of Refuge, is a pretty good read. I enjoyed the author's vivid details of the time period. I feel like I was right there living among the characters and being part of the story. It tells a beautiful story of God's love, forgiveness, and redemption.

I give Until the Mountains Fall a well deserved five plus stars and highly recommend it for readers who enjoy Biblical fiction. This book should not be missed.

Review: Shelter of the Most High (Cities of Refuge, #2) by Connilyn Cossette

Blurb (from Amazon):

The daughter of a pagan high priest, Sofea finds solace from her troubles in the freedom of the ocean. But when marauders attack her village on the island of Sicily, she and her cousin are taken across the sea to the shores of Canaan.

Eitan has lived in Kedesh, a City of Refuge, for the last eleven years, haunted by a tragedy in his childhood and chafing at the boundaries placed on him. He is immediately captivated by Sofea, but revealing his most guarded secret could mean drawing her into the danger of his past.

As threats from outside the walls loom and traitors are uncovered within, Sofea and Eitan are plunged into the midst of a murder plot. Will they break free from the shackles of the past in time to uncover the betrayal and save their lives and the lives of those they love?

My Review:

Connilyn Cossette does it again in her second installment of her Cities of Refuge series, Shelter of the Most High. She knows how to bring to life characters of the Biblical era. Sofea's story is beautifully written. I enjoyed visiting with Eitan again from the first book of the series.

I give Shelter of the Most High four and a half stars and I highly recommend it. I can not wait to see what happens next in the Cities of Refuge series.

Review: A Light on the Hill by Connilyn Cossette

Blurb (from Amazon):

Seven years ago, Moriyah was taken captive in Jericho and branded with the mark of the Canaanite gods. Now the Israelites are experiencing peace in their new land, but Moriyah has yet to find her own peace. Because of the shameful mark on her face, she hides behind her veil at all times and the disdain of the townspeople keeps her from socializing. And marriage prospects were out of the question . . . until now.

Her father has found someone to marry her, and she hopes to use her love of cooking to impress the man and his motherless sons. But when things go horribly wrong, Moriyah is forced to flee. Seeking safety at one of the newly-established Levitical cities of refuge, she is wildly unprepared for the dangers she will face, and the enemies--and unexpected allies--she will encounter on her way.

My Review:

A Light on the Hill is the first book to Connilyn Cossette’s new series, Cities of Refuge. I loved this book! This is by far my new favorite by this author. Her talent really shines through in this one. The details are so vivid, the characters seem to come alive. I just love Moriyah. She is such a strong, faithful, inspiring, and admirable woman. I am honored to have spent my time with her.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the Cities of Refuge series. I give A Light on the Hill 5+ stars.

Wings of the Wind (Out From Egypt #3) by Connilyn Cossette

Wings of the Wind is book three from Connilyn Cosette's Out From Egypt series. In this installment, the reader is introduced to Canaanite, Alanah, who had lost her family by the Hebrews. She seeks revenge and goes to battle against them. She is then injured and meets Hebrew Tobiah. He feels he must protect her and marries her. She finds peace until her past comes back and she finds herself in danger. How will she survive?

I enjoyed Wings of the Wind. I thought it was a good piece of Biblical Fiction. The author's vision of how the people lived during those times were vivid and I felt like I was right there living among them. I instantly fell in love with Tobiah. His love of faith was admirable and how he wanted to protect Alanah was sweet.

I would most definitely recommend Wings of the Wind, as well as, the rest of the Out From Egypt series.

A well-deserved 5+ stars.
