Meet the Author:

The Adventures of Molly & Ollie: Moving Day was inspired by Beale’s own experiences as a young child. Her father’s occupation required that her family move across the country every two years. Beale’s childhood was filled with adventures that captured her imagination in each new home. She continued her passion for adventure while raising her two daughters and working as a costume designer for local theaters. Now she is channeling her sense of fun and her youthful spirit into her children’s stories. Beale is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). The Adventures of Molly & Ollie: Moving Day, a Mom’s Choice Award winner, is the first book in the Molly & Ollie series.

Interview:
  1. Is writing your full-time career?

Yes and no. Since I am retired, writing is my main career. But keeping up with the adventures of Molly & Ollie does not seem like work. I also work for a small theatre company on a few shows a year. And I love spending time with my granddaughters!

  1. What is the future for the characters? Will there be a sequel?

All the characters in The Adventures of Molly & Ollie: Moving Day are having great adventures every day. And they have so many stories to share. There will definitely be more Molly & Ollie Books! I recently finished the first draft of the second book, in which Ollie helps Molly and her animals find a game they can all play together, so be on the lookout for that!

  1. If you had to describe Molly in three words, what would those three words be?

Warm, Smart, Confident

  1. Which was the easiest character to write? The hardest?

The easiest character to write was Henri, Molly’s big black & white dog. Henri only wants to be with Molly, to have fun, and to eat cookies! And he only has one line!

The hardest character was Ollie. He needed to be adventurous and magical and to help Molly have fun with life. I wanted him to provide guidance and encouragement without lecturing her.

  1. What was your favorite book when you were a kid?

The little golden book 5 Pennies to Spend was my favorite book. It is a marvelous story about a little boy who thinks of others before himself.

Sally Beale's THE ADVENTURES OF MOLLY AND OLLIE: MOVING DAY Book Tour Giveaway

My Review:

The Adventures of Molly and Ollie: Moving Day is a good book for younger readers. It is so cute that would make any young ones stay captivated from start to finish. I admired how the author was able to use this story bring out the beauty of friendships and teach a lesson on how to deal with difficult situations, such as, moving into another place. I loved the bond between Molly and Ollie. It was so sweet to meet them both.

I enjoyed The Adventures of Molly and Ollie: Moving Day’s illustrations. The illustrator is the talented Cheryl Crouthamel. Her creative gift shines throughout the book.  The pages were so beautiful and vibrant that would catch any young reader’s eye. I adored the colorful pictures on every single page.

The Adventures of Molly and Ollie: Moving Day is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for young readers who are between the ages of three and seven. I will be proudly donating my copy of this book to my son’s elementary school library. I know the librarian and teachers will be thankful and excited to share this story with their younger students. I know they will enjoy this story as much as my family did. We will be looking for more books by Sally Beale in the future.

I received a hard copy of The Adventures of Molly and Ollie: Moving Day from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
