An Author with Many Hats
I have five businesses:
1) I board special needs dogs and cats in my home—elderly, orthopedic, fearful. Anyone who does not “fit” into the typical boarding situation. My upstairs bedrooms are cat rooms, my downstairs is remodeled to accommodate dogs.
2) I do in-home consultations for “problem” pet behavior with their human families—the goal being to keep each pet in the home they already have and avoid their rejection and relinquishment to overcrowded shelters.
3) My writing business—I write for websites, blogs, pet magazines, and editorials/letters-to-the-editor regarding pet concerns, humane education, and animal welfare legislation in our state.
4) For forty-eight years I have been a master hairstylist. I used to travel internationally as a Guest Artist (onstage instructor) for major manufacturers and I’ve owned my own businesses for most of that time. The styling business has financed all my other passions. I continue to work part-time because I still love it and I learn so much from my clients—who are now long-term friends!
5) I am the president of the nonprofit, Colorado Animal Protectors (www.coanimalprotectors.org). We are just finishing our first operational year. We plan to be the “hub” of the wheel of Colorado animal welfare by networking with other rescues, shelters, sanctuaries, and individuals that need financial help with special projects that align with our mission: to protect, educate about, and advocate for, all our state’s animals.
Thanks for highlighting my books! Let's join together to save more dog lives by educating the people who care for them!
