Book three in the TETRAD Group series
Alysia has spent the last ten years avoiding relationships, but the night her life implodes, she meets Nick. Now all bets are off.
Haunted by her past, Alysia’s desperate for answers. She needs Nick and the group sworn to aid those unable to go to the law for help, because TETRAD will do what law enforcement cannot or will not—believe her when she says she knows who’s after her.
My name is Nick Wheeler and I’m with TETRAD, where I use my unusual skillset to best advantage. But what I didn’t expect is to become involved with a trauma nurse, or for it to become so deadly, with the stakes rising hour by hour.
I’m Alysia Rossini. One look at Nick Wheeler and I know he’s the one to help me forget the past. But is it fair to expose him to such danger? And will I live long enough for the chance to be with him?

She looked into the man’s face again, brushing back his wet hair to check the deep wound on his forehead that showed the white of bone. It dripped a steady stream of blood, almost black in the low light.
Who was he? The shape of his face haunted her. She was becoming more positive she knew the guy.
Then his eyes opened. Eyes that had haunted her since she was twelve years old stared back at her.
Oh. My. God. Time jerked to a punishing halt.
Not him.
Not the monster who had murdered her entire family. In cold blood. She wanted to yank the device out of his evil throat, to use it to strangle the life right out of him. Her hands froze in their self-appointed task. Her heart stuttered and her breathing grew harsh, forcing its way in strangled gasps from her horrified chest.
Was he stalking her? Was that why he’d been following so close behind her? No one would know if she just let him go into the good night, ended it right here and now. She could. She knew how. She had the means. Could anyone really blame her?
The police hadn’t believed her all those years ago—said he’d had an airtight alibi in being away at that Ivy League school his parents had sent him to, to correct his behavior, to make better use of his intellect that tested right off the charts. But Alysia had always known he’d gotten away with murder, had taken revenge on her family for perceived harm to his own—a perception that had later proven unfounded.
And now he was back. At her mercy.
They stared at each other for a timeless moment. His eyes dark pools of emptiness, he gave no quarter. The decision was hers.
The roar of the helicopter engine overhead alerted her to incoming. She still had a couple of minutes yet—they had to get to the scene from the parking lot. There was still time to let the bastard die.
The staring contest continued for a few more deadly seconds. Her hand hesitated on the tube, wanting to yank it out. Administer no aid. End it. It wouldn’t take much. Just hold her hand over his mouth and nose until all breathing ceased. His injuries would explain it.
The dilemma sliced into her brain. Pain followed. Her head felt about to explode with the acute stress. Her throat tightened. No winning on this one. Let him die—she lost. Let him live—she lost…
