It's Gator's first day at his new office job, and he is surrounded by quirky personalities like the slow slug, the obedient dog, the aggressive hawk, and the chatty chicken. He is eager to fit in with his new co-workers, so he tries to be like them. But acting like everyone else doesn't work out for him, and he learns a valuable lesson about himself instead. Featuring hand-drawn illustrations, vibrant colors, and rhymes, Animals at the Office sparks dialogue regarding first-day jitters, fitting in with new crowds, and embracing one's own special traits despite being surrounded by others who are different. Adults may relate to the featured characters based on their own experiences at an office and can use the book to talk more with children about their own job and what going to work means for them.

Animals at the office is another great children's book by Sarah Sommer. My kids and I have read her books in the past and this one is my favorite. We enjoyed meeting Gator and learning some great life lessons along with him. Like we all do, Gator has butterflies when he is nervous, has anxiety of having to find a way to fit in and understanding the best way to cope with accepting himself, as well as, others. It is very important to learn that everyone is different and, also, everyone needs to be true to themselves too. The story brought on a great discussion between my little ones and me. I loved that Gator's story was still teaching even after we finished reading the book.

What I loved the most about Animals at the Office is the talents of Devan. I adored these illustrations. They were fun, vivid, and colorful. They perfectly match the story on each page. My children were constantly stopping me from turning the page, so they could admire the artwork a little longer.

I am giving Animals at the Office a very well deserved five plus stars. I highly recommend it for children between the ages of four to seven years old. My family and I loved it. We can not wait to share it with others. I know they will love it and be happy to add it to their library, as well.

I received Animals at the Office from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
