I have also started ‘skin food’ programs in cancer wellness centres to help patients suffering from extreme skin dryness. This has shown that many can transform the hydration levels of the skin within a week by simply changing their diet.
The best part is that nutrition not only changes the look of our skin, but also contributes to our energy levels and our overall health. Located within the dermis, collagen is the connective tissue that supports the skin's structure and is essential for healthy, youthful looking skin.
As we get older the body produces less collagen, which causes the skin to weaken and lose its elasticity and fullness. This means it appears thinner and wrinkles and fine lines start to appear.
There are a number of environmental factors that weaken collagen - smoking, pollution, sun and a poor diet, along with the daily stress we feel.
However, collagen cannot be absorbed from a beauty crème as the molecules are too large to penetrate the skin.
So to maximise skin health, we need to have an intake of foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and amino acids, as these are the building blocks for collagen production.

When we started out people told me that the Face Lifting Food TV show might be ‘too healthy’ for people, but they underestimated people’s desire to eat food that is both tasty and good for you. Face Lifting Food now shows in more than 25 countries across the globe and sits alongside some of the best cooking shows in the world.
People tell me they love the recipes as they are delicious and easy to make. But they also love the fact that they while they eating for skin health, they are cooking food that the whole family can enjoy. This is what inspired me to turn the show into APPS that everyone can access at any time.
