Each chapter opens with "one of the letters" and closes with Aunt Ruby's poems - highlighting the point of the chapter or just providing the listener with a smile or a tear.

I was not sure of Football Flyboy: First Lt. Bill Cannon, Piloting More than His Own Aircraft at first. The writing was a little bit different than what I am used to. Once I got used to it, I found myself laughing out loud at times and tearing up at others. The narrators of the audio version, Lisa Reinicke, Richard Rieman, added a perfect balance between the letters and the commentary.
I give Football Flyboy: First Lt. Bill Cannon, Piloting More than His Own Aircraft four stars. I thought it was a great tribute to the author's father, Bill "Buster" Cannon. I recommend it!
